The Ratskeller is in heart of Munich, on Marienplatz underneath Munich city hall, which a lot of tourists come to marvel at. The interior is wonderful and quaint, and the restaurant itself is so huge that you can almost get lost in it. It has many evocative themed corners. The restaurant serves traditional Bavarian fare of course, and to a high standard. The menu offers everything from Schweinshaxe (Knuckle of Pork) to Kaiserschmarrn ('Emperor's Mishmash', a caramelized pancake which is a traditional Austrian dessert). There are also cakes for dessert or coffee breaks. The size of the Ratskeller means that it can cater for events for different types of groups. The Ratskeller often puts on brunches and other events, but these do not happen every week.
