More about The Merrion Hotel

Created from 4 restored Georgian townhouses, The Merrion Hotel is Dublin’s premier 5-star dining venue. The hotel houses a number of exquisite bars and restaurants, and with 2 AA Rosettes to its name, the Cellar Restaurant is the jewel in the crown, specialising in modern Irish cuisine.

Executive chef Ed Cooney infuses the finest local ingredients into the creative, European-influenced recipes found on the Cellar Restaurant menu. Indulge in phenomenal favourites such as the hazelnut-crusted Ballinwillin roasted venison loin served with buttermilk carrot puree and pomme fondant, or the delicious Kilmore Quay grilled black sole, with garlic spinach and zesty beurre noisette.

The stunning ‘Art Tea’ at The Merrion Hotel in Dublin showcases an array of miniature sweet treats inspired by the work of J.B. Yeats, William Scott and more, served in the magnificent hotel drawing rooms. An extensive range of hand-picked wines are available from the 18th-century wine vault, making for an ideal accompaniment to the wonderful food on offer.

Situated in the fashionable shopping and entertainment hub of Dublin 2, the Cellar Restaurant at The Merrion Hotel is just a 9-minute walk from Pearse Train Station.

There is limited light lunch dining options and I tend to gravitate toward the soup and sandwich as a result.

Food was lovely. Unfortunately, we did have a few minor issues when we received our brunch.
1. My salad arrived minus my chicken breast.
2. My daughter meal arrived with Sauce on sandwich, but we did request it on the side. ( For this my daughter did receive a complimentary sorbet as she had to wait for a new sandwich. )
3. My son ordered a dessert and my daughter also ordered a dessert, however my daughter received both of their desserts in one sundae glass dish. We had to call a waitress and get 2 new seperate desserts.
4. I ordered a baileys coffee, however an Irish coffee was brought to me, so the waiter was very polite and brought it away and came back with a baileys coffee.

I must state that our waitress was very polite and helpful.

Amazing staff!! Extremely attentive and their attention to detail was excellent!!
The setting was instantly relaxing!! Food was a little disappointing.
Sandwiches were a little bland and lacked flavour. Scones were delicious and deserts were amazing works of art!

We were disappointed. The halibut was overlooked and ruined. Kitchen (cook) needs to understand the nuances of cooking this usually delightful choice. I had the same choice (halibut) in the Saddle Room at the Shelbourne Hotel, Dublin, on the same trip, and it was superb.
