A group of eight is us visited at 9pm on a Thursday evening.

There was plenty of space for us in this generally located restaurant.

Service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive.

The food is staple British with many little twists. Very good for introducing foreign friends to an English menu that actually tastes great!

We only had one bottle of wine priced at approximately £30. It was a good choice as the wine was smooth and flavoursome.

Service charge is slightly higher then usual at 12.5%. For that though you are paying for professional staff who are clearly proud to be working at Banter & Scoff.

Great food but the service was very chaotic. We had to call the waiter twice to take our order for drinks and then again to order our food but it did get a bit better when another waitress arrived. The people next to us waited ages for the bill.

The restaurant itself was quite mundane, you knew you were in a hotel.

However, as I said when it arrived the food was really nice, tasty and good quality.

We had booked the offer, £17.50 for two courses, £21 for three and they asked if we wanted two or three courses when they took our food order. We said we will see how we feel about dessert when we have eaten main and this seems to have confused them. It ended up with two of us having dessert (so one had two courses and two had three courses) and when the bill arrived we were charged £17.50 for three people and charged separately for the two desserts which added £2 to the bill. As it was a small amount we didn't bother telling them because we didn't want to hang around trying to explain.

If they sort out the service, it could be a good restaurant.

We had a lovely meal once we finally got served, we waited for nearly 15mins before anyone took our order and then had to wait another 15mins for the drinks to arrive!! Food was really good when it arrived a little while later. Such a shame about the poor service as the food is really good. Would only recommend if you are no hurry and have lots of time to wait.

We dined at the Dial Bar & Restaurant last Thursday evening. [...] deal which offered 3 courses from a set menu + a glass of prosecco for [$] ......... and it was truly amazing value. The food was outstanding, the service both friendly & professional and the location incredibly good. Everything about the evening was of the highest quality & we will return.

The restaurant was very quiet, however when gossiping away that didn't bother us at all. The service was pleasent. We dined on the Bookatable Star Deal which was 3 Courses and Prossecco for [$]. We found the portion sizes were very generous and the food quality was good. It was an enjoyable meal and perfect for pre-theatre dining.

The food was amazing, we dined at 7pm on a Friday and the atmosphere was great.

Table booked for 4 people 18.00 pre-theatre. Slow but friendly service. Despite being reminded several times that we were under time constraint and although not busy, the service was slow to the point where we had to cancel the sweet course and coffee. To their credit they made an adjustment to the bill. However, the quality of the food was excellent.

Great food excellent for a pre theatre meal I've dined here before and it was equally as good as last time and the refurbishment looks great.
