More about Afternoon Tea at Sanderson

A chic pop-up dining hotspot in London, Sanderson showcases eclectic international indulgences in a year-round summery setting. At the luxurious 5-star Sanderson Hotel, the buzzing Long Bar and the exquisite courtyard garden bar serve up fresh, exotic cocktails whilst the Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Sanderson offers a unique twist on the classic afternoon tea.

Savoury treats include the goats’ cheese croquet monsieur, and white crab eclairs.

Completing the experience, sinful scones are joined by a red velvet ladybird cake and coffee-flavoured pocket-watch macarons. . The star attraction, however, is the collection of Sanderson-exclusive teas, featuring China Black Tea infused with hints of blackcurrant, vanilla, caramel, citrus, bergamot, blue cornflowers and blue mallow flowers.

Diverse flavours and eclectic recipes make Sanderson in Fitzrovia a favourite in London’s fashionable West End. Goodge Street Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

Our waiter was an absolute darling and attentive throughout the evening. I wish i ahd got his name as he was just a real credit to the place. Food was replenished and the savouries were innovative and delicious. My only criticism is that the sweets were just ok- the macaron was sublime but the others including the little sipping smoothie drink didn't wow as I had hoped. However it was a great location on a sunny summers day and we had a fabulous time.

A afternoon with my daughters and friend , hotel was so beautiful as you walked in side . Staff were very helpful as being in a wheel chair only issue was the doors to the ramp did not open automatic which was very hard . We were show into the very pretty court yard with its beautiful flowers and water feature . Then was explained to as what would happened , the cocktail was so lovely , then the sandwhiches arrived there were very nice indeed only issue was the gluten free option was a wee bit dry on the crab . Then can the tea so so delicious we tried three different types . Then the cakes were to die for my friends , but the gluten free option was a tad dry and the scone was so dry I could not eat .

Over all 8 out of 10 but I think the gluten free option needs looking at

Enough issues for me was the 25 pound in service charges optional I know but I would rather pay what I think

It was wonderful. A lovely setting, sitting out on the veranda on a sunny day. Food was delicious, service excellent. Had to send a fork and little bottle back for being dirty but they were beside themselves, gave a free cocktail and removed the service charge from the bill so were totally forgiven. An exceptional tea with a marvellous twist. Had 3 rounds of the savoury course, 2 pots of tea each, double order of the delicious scones. Some of the dishes were too sweet for me but what we didn't eat we got to take home in a lovely stylised doggy bag.

Lovely pleasant environment the courtyard adding to the experience. Staff were available if needed & they presented my friend with a lovely little birthday cake. Food was delightfully presented and we loved all the references making it the mad hatters, would have liked some more savouries but did not realise that this was possible until customers on next table were offered seconds (we we're not) cakes were all lovely and more than enough, our favourites were the blue cattipiller and clock macaroon.

Overall it was a pleasant experience, staff were friendly and accommodating. Food was to a good standard, being served quickly and nicely presented. However, my only gripe would be the £13 service charge that was put on the bill. I have used this service before to book a number of restaurants, it is sold to people as a good deal but the price is always made up through services charges or similar. In short, the afternoon tea was just short of £100, this I think was a little steep for a few cakes and sandwiches.
