More about Afternoon Tea at Sanderson

A chic pop-up dining hotspot in London, Sanderson showcases eclectic international indulgences in a year-round summery setting. At the luxurious 5-star Sanderson Hotel, the buzzing Long Bar and the exquisite courtyard garden bar serve up fresh, exotic cocktails whilst the Mad Hatter's Tea Party at Sanderson offers a unique twist on the classic afternoon tea.

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of Alice in Wonderland, menus are hidden inside vintage bookcases, kings and queens adorn teapots, and speciality sandwiches are served on plates decorated with birdcages, carousels and ticking clocks. Savoury treats include the goats’ cheese croquet monsieur, and white crab eclairs.

Completing the experience, sinful scones are joined by a red velvet ladybird cake and coffee-flavoured pocket-watch macarons. . The star attraction, however, is the collection of Sanderson-exclusive teas, featuring China Black Tea infused with hints of blackcurrant, vanilla, caramel, citrus, bergamot, blue cornflowers and blue mallow flowers.

Diverse flavours and eclectic recipes make Sanderson in Fitzrovia a favourite in London’s fashionable West End. Goodge Street Tube Station is a 6-minute walk away.

The Afternoon Tea itself was lovely and unique however we were disappointed in the service we received. We initially had to wait 20 minutes for the table we had booked and then after being told it was unlimited hot drinks and ordering further teas these never arrived. After we had finished our food and drinks we tried to obtain the bill however staff members were talking over the other end of the restaurant and simply ignoring us! We definitely did not pay the 12.5% service charge!

The tea was absolutely brilliant, had some dietary requirements that were met without any problems. The food was fantastic and was a real treat and a big change to a normal afternoon tea. Felt more like an experience than "just lunch". Loved the setting, and the staff were really attentive.

My 2nd visit to Sanderson for a Mad Hatter afternoon tea, took a friend for a birthday treat and it was as lovely as I knew it would be, staff very attentive, savoury and sweet dishes really tasty and plentiful, the Sanderson cocktail scrummy.

Hotel staff were very welcoming. The waitresses were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Fabulous tea with extra sandwiches if you ask. Warm scones were replaced quickly when we took longer with sandwiches. Cakes were amazingly presented and enchanting - couldnt finish them all so took them away in a lovely presentation box. After paying we were presented with a fabulous ice cream (thank you for coming) dish - absolutely wonderful

Lovely quirky afternoon tea. Scones were the best I've had in an afternoon tea so far. Not an extensive choice of tea but teas on offer were good. Sitting in courtyard with a zen garden was very peaceful. Great cocktails in the bar before as we arrived 15 mins early and they are very strict on your time slot at the table. Bit shocked by th 15%service charge applied used to between 10 and 12.5% in London but did not justify more than that.

a delightful afternoon, very good waiter who explained everything. Food was great and loved all the little touches, from the choosing of your tea to the little ice cream plant pot at the end. I had brought a friend to celebrate her 60th birthday and she loved it.
