The Secret Garden provided a superb atmospheric location with exemplary service and suggestions from the waiters.
We ate late evening and there was an intimate/romantic feeling with all the candles lit.
We were well looked after and our guests were suitably impressed.

We dined in the evening and the service was brilliant, the waiters explained the wine list and the menu and were very attentive, even suggesting what beer would work well with one of the main meals.
Atmosphere was lovely and the service and food were excellent.

We dined in the evening on Saturday, it was for my girlfiend's birthday and having been to the restaurant a number of times, I was hopeful of a very memorable evening.
The cost dictates that you expect a great service and fantastic food - on my past visits I have found the staff to be very professional but still engaging, this time was very poor, presenting the wrong food to our table, butting in while we were in mid-sentences, running around (I believe the best waiters are those you are not aware are nearby) and then difficult to gain attention when required.
You can forgive the service if the food is good - it wasn't.
As a starter we ordered scallops and pidgeon - I believe the order was mixed up with the neighbouring table and so not to slow the show, I was presented very quickly with scallops that could only be described as nuked and over-cooked. My main of 3-little-pigs was poorly executed, my girlfriend's deer & chocolate sauce was bizarre, the veg was under-cooked (I couldn't cut the parsnip) and the triple cooked chips were limp!
I am so disappointed as in the past it has been great - there are many other good restaurants in Edinburgh. I will not be returning anytime soon.
