More about Motcombs

A consistent favourite in exclusive Knightsbridge, Motcombs has served elegant European bistro classics since 1982. A partially open kitchen creates a buzz in the dining room, and continental café-style pavement dining is offered during summer.

Showcasing high-end flavours, the Motcombs menu features an array of dishes from France, Italy and beyond. Sample a luxuriously rich lobster risotto, calves liver with crispy pancetta and smooth creamed potatoes, or an adventurous creation from the Motcombs restaurant special board. For dessert, classic recipes include apple flan, or a moreish flourless chocolate cake.

A sterling selection from the Motcombs Knightsbridge wine cellar includes superb vintage bottles from the diverse French wine regions, alongside easy-drinking international blends. A laidback neighbourhood vibe in the cosy Motcombs bar also draws in a discerning celebrity clientele.

Blending Parisian chic and effortless Belgravia style, Motcombs London offers a bohemian vibe with its gallery of artwork and bold colour palette. Knightsbridge Tube Station is 7 minutes’ walk away.

I met an old friend for lunch in the ground floor brasserie just before Christmas. The atmosphere and clientele were a little older and stuffier than expected but even so the room was nice and we had a comfortable spot in the window. The acoustics are good making conversation easy and we ate well. Service was fine and friendly. Overall not a bad place to have a decent lunch. We paid [$] a head for a couple of glasses of champagne, steak and chips and a coffee. Not exactly a bargain but this is Knightsbridge.

Good, basic food but not gourmet; definitely not a dinner sort of place - more lunchtime; at times the rude and always inattentive, foreign staff talk amongst themselves too much; can be noisy downstairs if there's a row in the kitchen, as there often seems to be; expensive for what it is. 2 courses, with a glass of house wine will set you back [...] per head! Can feel cramped if full and tables for two are tiny

The experience was marred by the waiter retaining the till receipt and then overcharging me [$]It was only when I asked for the bill that I was able to get a refundIt left a sour taste to an otherwise good lunch
