The set lunch, two courses, was good value and each course was well cooked, presented and served. We had the" wine pairing" which involved a disappointing Viognier but a very drinkable Malbec from Argentina.Service was very friendly but professional. The first floor location, with no windows, will not be to everyone's taste.Nonetheless, a restaurant to re-visit.

excellent food, the glasses of wine with the 2 courses were megre but pleasant. Service excellent, the bookatable rate quoted was the same as walking in off the street. Therefore I would need to verify any future offers as good deals or just the regular price.

Excellent meal at Benares. Food was fantastic as always. Very flavourful and cooked to perfection. Every texture perfect. Sommelier and I had a good chat about wines but he recommended same wine as I had in mind. This place has been around for quite a few years and can be a bit formal with occasionally stuffy service (not always) but always delivers from a culinary standpoint.

We usually eat at Benares when we're staying in London, but this time, to celebrate my husband's birthday, we travelled from Norwich, for lunch and returned home the same day! The four hour plus round-trip was worth every minute!
It's always a risk, when you're used to visiting a much-loved restaurant for dinner, to then visit at lunch, but we had no need to worry! Arriving in time for our 1300 booking on Friday April 12th, the welcome was professional and as warm as ever. The bar was quiet when we arrived, but soon filled up! We had cocktails and then enjoyed the three-course set lunch with three matching wines. The staff were attentive, knowledgable and friendly. Having normally eaten from the a la carte we were very impressed by the choice of set meal courses. We run a wine business, so wine s always a great experience but letting Benares choose the paired wines was a great result, especially as each wine matched the food rather than each of us having the same white, red, dessert regardless of food choice! Every course was a treat of flavours and a joy to the eye! How kind, also to be presented with a 'Happy Birthday' message piped in chocolate and decorated with petits fours. Such a wonderful day! Thank you Atul and team!

My cousin and I booked the 2 courses for [$] dinner at Benares on a Saturday night. We were seated in a private dining room which was a bit of a bonus. The service and food were very good and we ended up having the 3 courses for [$] set menu. The private dining room filled up later in the evening and we were able to move to the bar area and continue with our drinks so we were not rushed out. Overall it was a very good dining experience which I would recommend.

We dined at 6pm although we were a little early they provided us with cocktails at the bar and there was no hurry for us to move to our table. The entire meal was amazing, all the intricate touches to simple ingredients simply outstanding. On reflection, I initially thought the protions were very small as we had the taster menu, but after 6 courses and a few glasses of wine, it was more than enough. i have to say the best part of the whole experience was the staff. every one of them was polite, warm and attentative, the GM [@] and the Somelieir both were superb, both in the warm manner and their enthusiasm for their positions and the restaurant they worked for. Oh and of course for the food and wine!! A very special day for my husband was made all the better for our trip to Benares....
