Very good - lots of attention to detail, food exquisite. We liked the cookbook too! Restaurant itself is totally enclosed so no views; furniture fittings etc. were all dark colours. My taste would have been for more a little more liightness. A well equipped bar provided a welcome aperitif.

from the minute you arrive outside you know its going to be something special. The greeting is lovely and the complimentary signature cocktail was delicious chose to drink this in the bar where they also gave complimentary roast almonds lovely. We made our choices from the menu and everything we chose was out of this world for example the chicken tikka with egg and anchovy and parmesan only atul could pull this off magnificent.I don't normally like lentils but the dhal that comes with every main was gorgeous.Part of the deal was his signed book which was a fabulous touch and will always bring back fantastic memories of benares when I'm trying his recipes..

We had the three course lunch time deal. I would describe Benares as the best Indian food I have had. The food was devine. The presentation and taste exceptional. The cocktail (Martini chutney pasion fruit) was delicious. The service excellent. I would definitely return and highly recommend Benares.

The restaurant is a bit dark but the food is excellent and so is the service. The £35 lunch was lovely but the portions are not big. It was difficult to get a jug of tap water but otherwise no negatives.
