Wonderful food but definitely spoilt by small portions. Menu site was actually better than at restaurant. We booked for 3 courses and glass of prosecco but told since first of July it was a glass of wine instead. To be fair the manager did give us a glass of prosecco but and there is no change on the bookable site!

Went for the set menu, two courses and a glass of wine for £20. Exceptional food, elegantly presented in a very handsome room. Very good value for money without feeling as though you are missing out on something.

Fantastic service from the minute we arrived. Delicious and inventive food in beautiful surroundings. The only thing that was slightly disappointing was that they weren't able to make a couple of cocktails we asked for but the 3 courses for £25 offer was really good value. We were there until quite late but weren't made to feel like we needed to leave. We would definitely go back!

I arrived early but was seated at a smaller drinks table before my main table. The waiter offered me a drink and I told him about my non alcoholic drink request that was part of my 3 course for £25 deal. I chose a virgin apple mojito. Another waiter eventually seated me at a dining table although he seemed to be in a world of his own when I told him where I wanted to sit. Wi-Fi was excellent. A waitress then bought me my cocktail. It was very refreshing with a prominent hint of mint. When the waitress bought me my menu, I told her I booked for the set menu but she didn't seem to understand a word I was saying when I explained but when I showed her my booking e-mail, her attention improved. I was brought some warm bread and soft butter before my soup was served quickly. The waitress said I could drink the soup if I liked since it was served chilled but I preferred to eat it with the spoon to begin with although I drank the remainder. It had a rich savoury flavour and came with some Melba toast with some sort of green purée, cold peas (which I liked) and thin radish slices (which I disliked). My main also came quickly. The cooked lettuce was a bit unusual, the broccoli was a bit burnt and the gnocchi was lacking but delicious. I was given some decent space for my dessert. The strawberries were sweet but there was less creme brûlée and yoghurt sorbet than expected. Shortly after finishing the dessert, I asked for the bill. It came promptly as did the collection of payment and arrival of change.

Overall the service seemed a bit slow for a start and the staff seemed inattentive at first but the service improved when I was given my food and the staff were friendly. The food was tasty but the main and dessert were somewhat lacklustre, the restaurant was easy to find and the atmosphere was peaceful with relaxing music and only six other laid back customers dining at the same time as me. 4/5.

What a lovely evening! The staff were warm and welcoming on a very wet evening. The waiting staff were informed and patient not rushing us and the food was superb. The salt cod croquet was cooked perfectly. The rabbit starter presented Michelin style and tasted fresh. The ravioli with lamb was coated in a heavenly garlic sauce and a great size portion. The chicken was moist and served with fresh and not overlooked greens.
Desserts also good.

Excellent food and amusing service. No problem with delayed start due to over-run at theatre beforehand. Good value.
