Not what we expected. The service was great and our waiter was very attentive. I think as we dinned a little earlier than one would normally, the restaurant just lacked that ambience you'd expect. The food was average and in my opinion a little over prices for what we actually got.

We would have loved to have chosen a dessert but there wasn't a thing that appealed to us.

An overall average experience for a restaurant with above average prices

Weather a bit chilly so no chance to enjoy the outdoor roof view

The restaurant was very busy and had several large parties for elderly grandparents with associated little darlings.
Our table was not ready at the agreed time and the bar waiting area was overcrowded particularly by a guest dressed for rambling with two back packs .

Excellent service from friendly staff, from reception in foyer, welcome in restaurant and waitresses. The food was wonderful and very good value for money. It was lovely to have coffee outside but a shame that the gardens were closed for a private function. I will definitely return when the gardens are open.

We visited the Babylon Roof Gardens (Kensington Roof Gardens) today for my birthday. We arrived late (I was 20 minutes, my friend 25 minutes) due to difficulties with the trains on the Circle line. Upon arrival to the 7th floor restaurant I exited the lift and was greeted by four extremely stern faces, no welcome, and I was EXTREMELY apologetic but was instantly told the kitchen was going to close in 3 minutes and unless I ordered immediately for myself and my friend we wouldn't be able to eat. It was pretty disgraceful, they could have said, we're really sorry but as you are late we will need to rush you, as the kitchen is due to close (of course I understood I had arrived late) but they made me feel completely unwelcome and walked me to my table in silence. I picked the first two items I saw on the menu for myself and my friend, and ordered within three minutes as instructed. But, I almost left at this point the staff had made me feel so unwelcome. If timings are that tight time wise they should maybe book their last table at 2.15pm not 2.30pm, as even if we had arrived on time it is clear you would still be rushed and pressured to order quickly. I have honestly NEVER been treated so badly in a restaurant, the staff were so awful to us. I actually couldn't wait to leave. When we left, we had a wait of several minutes for the lift during which time two members of staff stood with their backs to us folding menu cards and didn't even bother to look back at us to say goodbye. We stood there in stunned silence. I am embarrassed that my friend took me there for my birthday on my recommendation, and then had to pay £70 for the privilege. We didn't stay for dessert or coffee or drinks. The music was set at too loud a volume and seemed completely inappropriate to the ambience of restaurant, adding to the awful experience. Work was being carried out in the garden below in preparation for an evening film showing, and they just seemed to want us to get out of there quickly.
