This was our second visit to Rhubarb and it didnt disappoint. Everything from start to finish was first class and the 3 for [$] menu is excellent value for money. We will definitely be back

Last Friday night I had dinner at Prestonfield. With a group of friends I have been going to Rhubarb for our pre Christmas dinner every December for 5 years. It has always been a wonderful experience, the food, service and ambiance were always 2nd to none - until this year. Our starters were 5 star but sadly the main course and pudding were fairly ordinary. The service was, sadly, very poor. Our meal took over 3 hours. One of the waiters kept apologising for the delays but didn't explain why there were delays. After dinner we went through to one of the lounges for tea (which we ordered prior to leaving our dinner table), approx 30 minutes later our waiter popped in to ask if everything was OK and appeared to be surprised that we were still waiting for the tea to arrive. He again apologised and went to chase it up.
If this had been our first visit to Prestonfield I am not sure that I would return. Hopefully things will improve for next year or we won't be keen to return.

We dined on Saturday 15 December 2012 at 1.30pm. All the staff (meet and greet at door, wine waitress) except our main waitress were excellent. My friend has a nut allergy and the waitress was not very good at reassuring us that the food did not contain nuts, she was also not great at answering questions. If this had been my first time, I am not sure I would have returned, but fortunately I have been before and had excellent service from all staff. Food was exquisite.

Beautiful location and friendly welcome. However service at table was disappointing and unprofessional (inexperienced staff who didn't know who had ordered which dishes, at least 6 different staff serving at the table during the meal). Quality of food was inconsistent; e.g. tiny overcooked portion of scallops followed by perfectly cooked venison.

Quite expensive, but very good. Scallops were delicious, but only 2 on the plate was a bit cheeky.

Dinner on Xmas eve, my husband's birthday. The food was great, rich sumptuous and beautiful. The service wasn't so great we felt like we'd been overlooked a couple of times this was rectified.

Time taken to take order was excessively long.
Meal is good. Staff were accomodating.
Been 3 times before. Service makes the difference between a good experience and a great one. IMHO.

Fantastic food and wine at a reasonable price. However, the waiting staff lacked personality and charisma and seemed uptight. A more relaxed and personable approach would be far better!
