The cocktails were really great and food reasonable good but it was chilly in the bar area and not much warmer in the restaurant

              Comments about this restaurant :

Having dined at The Mai Tai in Florida we were somewhat disapointed that Trader Vic's Mai Tai had nothing like the entertainment or the theme setting of their Florida cousins. Although the ambience was not bad, neither was it by any means spectacular. The service and the quality and preparation of the food however were very good though not enough choice on the dessert menu for my liking. The wine list was somewhat short and expensive for the types of wine on offer but the quality of the cabernet sauvignon I had was really decent.

We had "dinner" on friday 30th of december 2011.This was without doubt the most horrible experience ever.We started with a [$] cocktail which wasn't more than just juice with some rum.The food was disgusting, everything was deep fried and some elements were not even edible (sauce, prawns)the special fried rice wasn't special at all, just nasi goreng. the bill was [$].I will not even try to describe the service, which was one of the most unfriendly / even hostile. One advise, don't ever go to Trader Vic's, it is disgusting.

We had a spectacular time. Friends warned us it was a bit "kitschy," but in fact, the atmosphere was quite sophisticated and charming. The staff was attentive but not intrusive. The food was delicious. The drinks lived up to their reputation. It is a fusion of Polynesian tastes and decor, with a bit of British Imperialism thrown in. It is an expensive meal, but you definitely get what you pay for.
