Fabulous whitebait and lovely fresh cod...really nice lunch. The service was a bit slow this time but the waitress was very nice and apologised for the wait.

More about Geales - Notting Hill

Described as ‘pulling on the heartstrings of nostalgia’ by acclaimed critic Fay Maschler, Geales Notting Hill offers superbly fresh fish and seafood. Established in 1939, lovingly restored original features evoke quintessential British charm.

Branded as London’s ‘posh fish and chippy’, the Geales menu offers hearty comfort food with a sophisticated edge. Sourcing from sustainable fish stocks, perfectly grilled fillets sit next to the nation’s favourite, cod in crispy batter. Tired British classics are also brought up to date with contemporary twists, like the Geales restaurant signature fish pie, or prawn cocktail.

Continuing the British theme, classic desserts at Geales Notting Hill include bread and butter pudding with Baileys custard, all washed down with dandelion and burdock or cream soda.

Subdued yet chic, Geales London offsets glossy grey walls and black leather benches with glittering antique mirrors. Notting Hill Gate Tube Station is just 2 minutes’ walk away.

We had a great meal here on a Wednesday night. We used our 241 Tastecard offer, however they also have a cheap Wednesdays deal (fish and chips and beer for £9.95). We had two courses and a carafe of wine, which were all lovely. The restaurant was quiet, with around 1/4 tables busy, and one waitress looking after us all, but she was great and very on top of things. Lovely little find.

Not as good as it used to be. Ran out of plaice (this was early evening). The skate wings had so much hard batter it was difficult to get a knife into it. Chips hard tasteless and not hot not crispy outside and fluffy inside as chips should be. Mayonnaise put on plate by chips rather than giving choice by putting in pot. Don't think we'll be going back.

Went to Geales on a Groupon deal and was very pleased with everything. The whitebait starter was so tasty and the cod fillet main was very freshly cooked. I would go back

excellent food, the hake in batter and the linguine with lobster. Desserts excellent too. Although a bit slow, only one waiter for the whole restaurant.
