It was our second time at the York & Albany and we'd go again. Tip: always order a side dish or two with the set menu. Drinks are pricey but I don't mind paying this for great surroundings and service. Our one gripe is that the ground floor restaurant was too cold. It was a cold night and the air conditioning seemed to be on full power for summer.

We dined at 7pm after a cocktail in the bar. As usual the staff were fantastic, attentive but not intrusive, extremely well organised. We had 2 courses each. My Caesar salad was perfect and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his artichoke and mushroom soup. I opted for beef pie whilst he had sea bass both yummy with the right glass of wine to accompany . I love the atmosphere which is vibrant but not too noisy, and sophisticated too. You feel you are in a chic place but without stuffy formality. I think the staff make it so successful in all these aspects.

Food was great, the amount of food was poor, the price didn't match up. Drinks were dear. [$] for a small glass of wine is an ignorant price, [$] for a pint of lager, shocking.Ive put i wouldn't recommend a friend due to the amount of food you get, needs doubling, i felt a great urge to lick the plate the amount was so little, my girlfriend begged me not to.Also, and i could be wrong, but the lady that served us had a look on her face of worry when after we ate, my girlfriend headed for the toilet, it was as if she felt we were about to do a runner seeing as that kind of restaurant was clearly not where we'd normally dine.From a smile to a frown, and from a stern look to a look of service assistence in confirming where the toilet was, you get my drift.We had dressed up, and we payed our bill.

York & Albany is a lovely old pub right off Regent's park that's been dolled up and posh-ified to within an inch of it's life. the bar area is great - more interesting than the dining room to be honest. but the food is to die for. really truly stunning. great for a low key romantic meal. though not cheap...

It was our first experience with a Gordon Ramsay's restaurant. Curiously, he was not the reason we have gone there - it was just a coincidence. Anyway, it was a good coincidence: the rabbit terrine, as the first, and cheek and tongue of ox, as the second course, were more than excellent, were perfect.
