An excellent choice for a special occasion - a real treat. Service was impeccable, of course, but the waiters were friendly and helpful too. Everything we ate was delicious and there was absolutely no danger of leaving the table unsatisfied; the only risk was in filling up too quickly on sandwiches and not leaving room enough to do justice to the scones and cakes that followed. As the staff knew it was a birthday celebration they presented my husband with a cake (plus candle) as the pianist played 'Happy Birthday to You' and everyone applauded. Would happily repeat the whole experience.

From the moment of arrival until we left, the atmosphere in The Ritz was one of calm, with a pianist softly playing in the background. The chink of china cups and gentle conversation was enhanced by the glorious sight of a three-tiered sandwich and cake stand along with a marvellous selection of different flavoured teas. The sandwiches were delicious and the choice was brilliant - if we wanted more we were offered extras - 3 times. After this we were brought some warm scones, freshly baked, along with a generous amount of clotted cream and jam. On the top tier of the cake stand were 4 delicious cakes, each on a little cardboard stand for ease of transferring it to your plate. While enjoying these, we were brought a trolley laden with strawberry trifles and 2 other large cakes. We were given a trifle each, and then given a choice of a slice of either of the large cakes. This was a step too far - I had eaten far too much already, but gallantly tried to make light work of a slice of black forest gateau - but I failed and had to ask my husband to help me out. Everything about the tea was wonderful and the setting was truly superb. For a special occasion I would definitely come back.

The food and whole dining experience was wonderful.I would however like to make a comment about the toilets. There were a number of the more mature soles in the restaurant yesterday, and I fell that both ladies and gents loos should be on the ground level.

Fantastic, my friend of 50 years and I decided to spend our 60th birthday celebrations together in London with a theatre trip and tea at the Ritz. We had a brilliant and beautiful experience, lovely food, super service throughout our time there, we are already telling other friends and even strangers to book, we loved it, a perfect treat. Thankyou.

You were welcomed by polite, uniformed members of staff, you felt as if you were somebody special throughout the experience, and what an experience! You were plied with food (this is after the food which was set out on the table) more than you could comfortably eat, drink, etc. Nothing was to much trouble from the Doorman to the Manager of the Palm Court @ the Ritz.
