Davy's at St. James was amazing, very friendly staff, food was amazing, we came there as part of the London restaurant festival so we had a set menu, which was all very nice. Suitable for vegetarians too.

For me, this is primarily a wine bar and the food takes second place (it is certainly popular for wine drinkers). The service was friendly and speedy, but I was disappointed in my leek and potato soup as it was just warm and not that tasty. Fish goujons were fine. Puds were OK - treacle tart or Eton Mess sundae or Cheese dish. So, all passed muster. The ceiling is rather low so hearing was difficult with neighbouring noisy party. That said, this is clearly a popular place and has a good choice of wines.

Venue had a great atmosphere once we'd found where the restaurant was, its located down an alleyway in a great part of London. Staff were very nice, food was great, just a shame the later it got the less menu items available.

Just the right level of buzz on a Friday evening, without being over-crowded (and mercifully tourist-free). [...] Excellent steaks! Great wine. Faultless.

Booked for an evening meal and it was quite quiet with just a few couples. The food was excellent although there was some confusion with my starter and I ended up with pig cheeks which my husband swapped with his choice. I tried a bit and they were absolutely delicious, so I will try them again if I see them on the menu. The waiter was so apologetic, but it wasn't a problem really. This was followed by an excellent steak and chunky chips. Couldn't manage dessert, so finished with a coffee.

I always like the ambience of Davys and have eaten there quite often as it is quiet enough to hold a normal conversation most of the time

I've eaten at Davy's at St James several times. It's good value and equally suitable for a business lunch, a relaxed evening meal or a quiet glass of wine. Simple menu but dishes well presented.

Dined on Monday at 6pm. Great service, very friendly helpful staff. We had the small room at the back which was perfect as it was a family meal(all adults). Christmas week so it was busy but had a lovely atmosphere without being manic. Good food and excellent Davy's wines. We'll be back!
