We went to the Sanctum Hotel for the 'Gent's Tea' as part of my fiancé's birthday celebration. We took a 5pm booking which was late for tea but allowed us to do some shopping in town beforehand - this could be to blame for the lack of atmosphere we felt in the bar area. However regardless of time, the service wasn't very attentive. The way the gent's tea is served is in courses, and my fiancé had to wait for ages and ask/continually remind to servers to bring his next course. We were the only ones in there and it was impossible to even find a server when we needed one.

The gents tea finishes with a cigar on the rooftop patio, and I had called two days leading up to the reservation to ask for an upgraded cohiba to be set aside as it is my fiancé's favourite. I was told I could not reserve this, but it would be fine as they always had cohiba's to hand and not to worry. Sure enough they did not have any cohiba's so unfortunately we were not able to upgrade our tea as offered on the menu. Nonetheless they did had the regular, smaller cigar for him to enjoy on the rooftop patio, however they had some kind of rock party going on the roof and we could not fit outside onto the rooftop, nor would we have wanted to. The music was so loud we could feel it, and we're not old cranks either we both like our music but this was extreme. There would be no way to enjoy a cigar over some conversation in that atmosphere. We should've been told that this was going on as it impacted one of the highlights of the tea and left us having to take our cigar for the road - not a great finish.

All in all a really disappointing experience, poor service and a real let down. Would not recommend.

We were disappointed. Very limited menu choices and even at £25 and a cocktail felt it was very over priced for what it was, we have used Bookatable a few times and have always been impressed but not this time . The restaurant is trendy looks like an American diner and there was good music playing. The service and staff were good but it was nearly empty I guess a because of the price/ poor value for money . The food was good but really much too expensive

The Bookatable menu was good value. The food was good, the service fine and excellent location. Quirky would be a good word to describe the decor. Agree with previous comment that these Bookatable deals can take you "off piste". The complimentary champagne cocktail was very sweet!

Slightly odd greeting at the restaurant but the rest of the evening was very pleasant with good food and good service.

Dreadful best sums up our experience. One of 3 choices on the mains not available, substituted with lamb. No request as to how lamb should be cooked, and arrived virtually raw with blood on the plate. Macaroni cheese was tasteless and not of a main course size.
Service poor from staff who were clearly poorly trained.

The food was pretty good, unfortunately we were the only diners in the restaurant which made the atmosphere a bit quiet. The service was disappointing.

Fantastic evening at the Sanctum. Great food and lovely decor in restaurant. Service great too. Only niggle would be lack of draught beers other than on the rooftop bar. But otherwise brilliant.
