We very much enjoyed our dinner at Hix, friendly service and very good food. My only complaint that it would have more accurate to describe the accompaniment to my chicken as green salad, and I would have known to order a further side dish.

The restaurant was attractive altough a little dated in decor. The staff were attentive and helpful but not intrusive and offered my pregnant companion alternatives where necessary in choices, dressings and beverages without always being asked. They offered assistance with her seating comfort if needed which was very kind. The food was well prepared and cooked and very tasty, served promptly. The set menu choices were not very imaginative or creative. Overall we enjoyed the experience, we were allowed to relax and were not rushed.

The place was very busy. So far so good. we had the prix fixe. We got the imrpession they did everythign to steer youa way form that into the more expensive a la carte. Unfotunately there was something rather cheap and rushed about the whole thing. This place definitely caters for people who go for the experiencerather than the food. The Clams, however, were perfect. Altogether an average experience apart from teh Bar waiters who were all fantastically attentive. Sadly - just not enough attention to detail. Mark Kix should get back in the kitchen and show themn how it shoudl be - I am sure the Chef was good - but the place didn;t do him justice.

This is a great place to meet friends for dinner and then go on afterwards. I thought it would have been more special, it has a brasserie atmosphere and its not sophisticated dining. Service could have been better but the food, overall was good!

Very good value for pre-theatre set price meal. Food perfectly lovely. Whipped beet with goats cheese for starter, hake with mash - would have been nice to have another veg, rhubarb jelly and rhubarb ice cream. Service a little slow, considering they knew we were going to the theatre, but not too bad. Not many diners at 6pm in a large, high ceilinged room meant ambience was lacking. Great central location.
