Serving tasty French cuisine, Manchester Café Rouge is a 5-minute walk from the Arndale Centre. Enjoy the traditional French atmosphere inside or dine al fresco in the outdoor seating area.

As part of the nationwide chain of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Within walking distance of both the Manchester Evening News Arena and Victoria Train Station, Café Rouge - Deansgate offers a relaxed venue for French dining.

Good Food / Terrible Ambience

The menu had a good selection of choices, the food was good and the service excellent. What let this place down was that it had all the ambience of a factory canteen. The lighting was harsh, the decor unoriginal and for half the meal they played very loud pop music, though this was changed towards the end of our meal for something more appropriate (and quieter).

Hade an early dinner here before going on to the MEN. We had a voucher ( 2 mains for £12) but would gladly have paid full price for the wonderful meal we had. The only Boulabaisse which can possibly compete, was one we had at a small restaurant in Northern France. Service was good, friendly but not over the top. We were served quickly but never felt rushed to leave so that others could have our table.We do not live near Manchester, but will certainly visit a Cafe Rouge in our local area. All in all, a lovely experience.

Great choice when visiting the MEN Arena

A pre-theatre meal served promptly. Good advice given re waiitng time so a faster dish could be ordered if necessary. Very pleasant and courteous staff. Lovely meal (lamb rump), everything freshly cooked, presentation not fancy. Surroundings clean.

we arrived on time 17.45 and were seated straight away the food and drink order was taken promptly however it all went down hill... the 2 teenagers asked for no mustard mayo on there chicken sandwiches. This had clearly been put on by mistake and then scraped off. My steak sandwich was requested medium to well and was clearly pink I also had a huge chunk of fat. When these issues were raised with the waiter he was very flippant and asked if i would like he to bring the chef up to slap him!!!!!!needless to say no tip was left and a teenager was ill later that night:0(

The atmosphere was warm and cosy, and i like the French-style red velvet banquettes. The food is good, but nothing out of this world and is a pretty safe bet. Great central Manchester location.

\\dined at 6.00pm prior to theatre.\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\chosen wine not available.Ordered moules and was told they were off and unfit for eating!!In all therefore not an enjoyable experience.
