Housed on the 1st floor of the Manchester Trafford Centre, Café Rouge offers authentic French cuisine. A traditional faux façade overlooks the courtyard dining area looking out on to the domed food court.

As part of the nationwide chain of Café Rouge restaurants, this branch offers their range of classic French dishes such as confit duck, beef bourguignon, steak frites and mussels. Smaller dishes are also on offer for a lighter bite. Particularly good value for money are the set menus for lunch and dinner (available most days). To accompany the food there is also a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

In true French style, breakfast is also an important meal at Café Rouge. With croissants, pain au chocolat, omelettes and croques, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees, it makes a great start to the day.

Served by fantastic bus links and with ample free parking, Café Rouge within the Trafford Centre is the perfect place to dine between shops.

Disastrous evening

Dreadful - table booked for 6.30pm- - meal took over two and a half hours. Had to ask several times for things - children's menu, children's colouring, knife. Food disappointing - overcooked and cold when finally arrived. Will not be returning and such a shame as we have had some lovely meals in Cafe Rouge in other parts of the country.

We dined at 8pm. At the Trafford Centre, we felt the ambiance was better inside rather than outside. Forgetting, the Trafford Centre, it was possible, at least for a minute, to visualise being in Libourne, or somewhere else in France - but only for a minute! Overall, we enjoyed our dining experience.

I came with 4 friends. Not busy in restaurant. Items on menu not available. Service very slow. Steak over cooked and tough. The best items on the plate were the frites.

We dined at 5.30. There were enough people to provide atmosphere but it was not full. The food was delicious as always. Finding a car park space was hard. We ended up on one of the furthest car parks which was ok as it wasn't raining but if it had been it would have taken the edge off it.

Sun night 7pm was quiet, but with warm atmosphere Food was very tasty and lead to a very enjoyable experience.Only downside is that it is on the expensive side for what you get.
