More about Café Rouge - James Street

Just off Oxford Street and a short walk from Bond Street Tube, London's Café Rouge James Street is a popular French restaurant near Mayfair with pavement dining.

Mayfair restaurants aren't generally known for being cheap, so this Café Rouge, part of the nationwide chain, makes a very affordable alternative for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

The day starts with croissants, baguettes, pain au chocolat and omelettes, as well as hot chocolate, tea and all types of coffees. For lunch and dinner (most days) you can go for one of the great value set menus or choose from the classic French menu. Options include confit duck, mussels, beef bourguignon, poulet Breton and steak frites, as well as lighter dishes if you're short on time.

To accompany your meal, the James Street Café Rouge has a good range of French wines, many from less well known producers.

I had an evening meal with a friend and booked it based on my experience of the Dorking Cafe Rouge. Unfortunately it did not meet the same standards: my food came out luke warm and it was definitely a smaller portion missing a few ingredients. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
