Brilliant. Great staff, perfect atmosphere for an intimate dinner. Beautiful piano music in the background. Great grilled platter to share. Lovely meat and food. Will go again!

Great food, great location great decor. Let down by poor service. Felt I was being rushed out the door from the moment I sat down.

I have been going to a Joe Allen's all my life -- NYC and here. This was my worse experience but it was much worse for my friends. A waiter poured a glass of champagne down a woman at the next table and my friend's coat got caught in the cross fire. I heard the man say he was sorry to the poor woman next to us, but he only nodded to my friend as she moved her coat out of the line of fire. That's a dry cleaning bill. The same friend couldn't eat all of the chicken in her salad because it was too hard to cut? How did that even happen! Later a plate was broken by the kitchen and smashed. A piece of the plate flew across the room and into the chin of my other friend. None of the restaurant staff even looked up to see if anyone in the place had been injured. Granted no one was hurt, but the staffing issues were blatantly obvious. Maybe it is time for Joe Allen's to go -- how sad. I ticked 'No' to recommendation below, but I will admit to sitting on the fence as I've been so often.

We were a party of 8 for Mother's Day and had a lovely time. The staff were consistently charming and efficient, the atmosphere as always was great (love the piano playing) and the food was fine. Joe Allen is now our venue of choice for family get-togethers (from south-east and west London respectively) but we also enjoy it for pre- or post-theatre suppers for two.

I'm so pleased we decided to come to this restaurant. It was recommended by Steve Allen on lbc radio who always had only good things to say about it, so of course you go by recommendations.
My son enjoyed the dinner he had squid and a chicken main dish, I had a lovely prawn cocktail and ribs and as it was Mother's Day I just had to have a brownie and ice cream for dessert. It was beautifully presented, all of it.
I had a lovely glass of Chardonnay which complimented my lunch and to my surprise to make the day complete there was a comlpementary bunch of daffodils for all he ladies. Overall a lovely time. The restaurant has really lovely decor, very warming feeling when you go in. We will definitely visit you again, that is if you are still there as we have heard that they are building a hotel where you are. I hope this is not true. Thank you

Joe Allen was very accommodating for the 11 of us who arrived. Food was good and the service was reasonable. Thank you very much for the little touches of flowers for all the Mum's, nice.

Thoroughly underwhelming. I mean, it was vaguely edible, although I nearly choked on a stringy, slimy spring onion... but the dishes I ordered looked and tasted like something I used to take home from cookery class when I was thirteen. Yeahhhh... NOW I understand that wide-eyed, fixed-smile nodding thing my mum and dad used to do when I brought my culinary creations home from school and expected them to tuck in. Perhaps I'm wrong in expecting better, even in ordering from a set menu. I guess their rent is exorbitant right there in Covent Garden, so maybe they can't afford to hire a better chef and buy better ingredients/wines.
