Absolutely impeccable service, incredible value for money, delicious food and wine...breath taking view of the river and racecourse...perfect evening for my husband's birthday, would recommend anytime even before the Grosvenor restaurant in Chester.
For future reference we found out that you can park at the hotel underground car park for free when lunching or dining at the abode.

I booked lunch for my friends special birthday, we felt very well looked after from the minute we arrived, the waiter offered us the drinks menu & informed us of the daily cocktail, which sounded too good to refuse. We were lead to our table and then served a three course lunch of a very high standard, service was attentive, polite and prompt. Food delicious with a hint of extravagance thrown in. The staff had also gone to the trouble of dressing a plate for my friend with a few taster petit fours and some very fancy birthday wishes written in white chocolate. We left feeling pampered and full to the brim. Thank you.

Service was not attentive as I would have expected. We asked the waitress to serve the wine now please. And she just did water and walked off. The selling up on the italain wines . Was a little ott. And by the end of the evening we heard the same script for every table, for a restaurant of your standing I would expect that you had better tonic than britvic own . Food was stunning flavours and the combinations worked fantastic ,

Our party booked for the early bird dining offer. £15 for 2 courses or £20 for 3. We have eaten in the restaurant a number of times previously and have always found the food to be of excellent quality. The staff were friendly but professional and the service was attentive without being overpowering.
I can recommend the delicious butternut squash veloute. The blade of beef was braised and fell apart it was so beautifully cooked.
Coffee is always served with 3 petit fours which are a dessert in themselves, lovely melt in the mouth chocolate truffles.
Having eaten in many michelin starred restaurants including 2 and 3 stars I am surprised that this restaurant isn't listed. Definitely worth a visit.
(The free private gated parking beneath the restaurant is also an added bonus).

Stayed at hotel but chose to eat dinner there because we had been impressed by Michael Cains in Glasgow (now closed). At every stage starting with drinks in bar at 8.15, service was glacially slow. Ages before order was taken, ages before bread or wine appeared. It was almost one hour before the starter arrived. Mains came after another half hour and were not hot enough. We did not have desert or coffee because it was so late. Complained to the restaurant manager but he seemed bemused and offered neither explanations nor apology. The lighting was very poor over several tables including ours.

We booked the restaurant for a special occassion meal to celebrate my mothers birthday. We have dined here before on a special menu that the restaurant did for Mothers Day. We were not dissapointed. The service was great, and the food was amazing. I would recommend.
