Stayed at hotel but chose to eat dinner there because we had been impressed by Michael Cains in Glasgow (now closed). At every stage starting with drinks in bar at 8.15, service was glacially slow. Ages before order was taken, ages before bread or wine appeared. It was almost one hour before the starter arrived. Mains came after another half hour and were not hot enough. We did not have desert or coffee because it was so late. Complained to the restaurant manager but he seemed bemused and offered neither explanations nor apology. The lighting was very poor over several tables including ours.

We booked the restaurant for a special occassion meal to celebrate my mothers birthday. We have dined here before on a special menu that the restaurant did for Mothers Day. We were not dissapointed. The service was great, and the food was amazing. I would recommend.

I visited Michael Caines @ Abode for my 40th birthday celebration meal. It was a Wednesday night at 7.30pm restaurant parking areas could've been better sign posted in the underground parking area. Disappointed with the initial greeting in the bar area, as no other patrons, we ordered cocktails and after 20min asked if we would like to go to our table, however we had to carry our drinks over ourselves ... The service in the restaurant was excellent from the sommelier and the servers with full descriptions of each meal when they arrived and timed placement of each course. There was a lovely complimentary 'happy birthday' plate with afew hand made sweets... Nice touch.

We dined "early doors" and took advantage of the variety of the smaller portions menu.
Wonderful value for money and thoroughly recommended.
This appears to be a mostsensible way of trying a comprehensive selection of courses which are available in larger portions when dining a la carte.
Worthy of note when attending this wonderful restaurant in the future
