                    Comments about this restaurant :

I've never been tempted to write a review before, but was so appalled by this place I felt I should. I found this restaurant whilst looking for somewhere to send the board of the company I work for, but thought with the [$] for 3 courses deal that they offer, i'd go an try it out first. Well thank god i did, i think i'd actually be fired if i'd sent people here. I go out for dinner with my partner quite a lot, we enjoy trying lots of new restaurants, within all price ranges, as much as possible. And I have literally no idea how this place has a Michelin star. First off the service, coming from an overly generous tipping family, i'm never one to complain about the automatically added 12.5% that most places do now a days, and usually end up leaving a bit more. There service here however was so bad I had to ask them to take it off- a first for me! We sat down, were not given any menus, or even offered a drink. Ten minutes later we finally had to ask for them, no apology, no smile, nothing. And still no wine list.Starters came quite quickly, we had carpaccio of cod, which was ok, nicely presented if a bit bland. I had spaghetti, which was absolutely nothing special. Then came our problem. 40 mins of waiting went by, no mains. We went to ask our waiter, he didn't even stop walking to hear what we were saying, just snubbed us and walked off. Another 15 minutes went by and we were actually tempted to leave at this point. When they finally did arrive, (with no apology, no smile...) they again were nothing special. I had pork loin, my partner had filet of sole. They were however devoured purely due to the fact we were starving by this time. Another bland round of pudding and we were ready to get out of there. After another frustrating 10 minutes of trying to catch the waiters eye and them completely ignoring us, we went up to the woman at front of house to ask for the bill. Then came the awkward 'I'm sorry I don't want to pay the optional service due to the poor service we received today'. I hate complaining, I get embarrassed and flustered and just hate it. However as soon as I started saying I didn't want to pay it, she just said 'I'll go check', walked off, came back, said nothing, handed us our correct bill without saying a word or even asking why we didn't want to pay the extra, and we left.[$] out of pocket, and severely annoyed. There are so many good places to go in London, with amazing food AND great service, it's not hard. Do not bother wasting your time here.

My partner and I had lunch at Ristorante Semplice a few days ago. The atmosphere was very sophisticated and buzzy at the same time. We were greeted by the courteous staff and seated swiftly in an intimate part of the restaurant which we liked instantly. Our waiting staff were attentive and at the same time unobtrusive; extremely knowledgeable when asked details of some of the dishes on the menu. We both went for the Set Lunch menu - so extensive and unusual it didn't feel we weren't ordering from the a la carte. Besides the great starters of Homemade tagliatelle, hare ragu and black cabbage and Lentil soup and lardo di Colonnata crostini, our mains were excellent. The lamb rump with cannellini beans and curly kale was highly praised by my partner as the best lamb dish ever tasted (and he is a great meat lover!). The service reached a high peak when each of our courses was perfectly matched with a glass of wine suggested by the Sommelier, [@]. All in all a sophisticated culinary experience that will most certainly stay with us for a long time.

diner at 7pm. one didn't like ambiance the other felt that the tables were too close. Having booked weeks in advance we were disappointed to be placed at the back on a small table between(very close to) two other small tables.
