More about The Globe - Bath

Ever a rustic fixture in Newton St Loe, The Globe – Bath was established in the 17th century and continues to deliver traditional British pub cuisine in a beautiful setting. From the cosy hearth-fire and al fresco beer garden you can enjoy the appealing cobbled stone walls, the great country view and the seasonal food.

Hearty Sunday roasts and trusty British dishes head The Globe menu, and a range just for kids offers mini versions of pub favourites. Signature Vintage pies designed by celebrity chef James Martin offer fillings like beef & merlot with buttered peas, while The Globe ‘Vintage classics’ menu includes lemon & garlic-roasted chicken with seasoned chips.

Paying homage to the Great British pub, the Vintage Inn bar stock includes cask-conditioned beers, real ales and a meticulously compiled wine list. Thirst-quenching offerings include seasonal non-alcoholic cocktails and freshly-pressed juices, and rich coffee is brewed freshly throughout the day.

The Globe in Newton St Loe is just 7 minutes’ drive from Oldfield Park Train Station, near Bath.

I'll start with saying thank goodness I booked in advance. A very popular and busy pub.
From the minute we walked in we were welcomed and shown to our table. Our waitress Sophia was excellent in making sure we had everything we wanted/needed. The wait for food and drinks is on par with anywhere else that we have visited so no complaints there. My husband had a chicken pie whilst the rest of us had a Sunday roast - all delicious - our only gripe was that the roast potatoes were hard (and big!).
Desserts were lovely too.
The rest room for ladies was nice and clean.
The whole pub had a very comfortable feel about it - I love the scatter cushions!
We will definitely be back again.

Lovely food but the service was disappointingly very slow. Had to push for dessert menu and bill. Then had to go to counter to pay as I got fed up of waiting for someone to come to me.

Service was excellent we found the menu choices limited, with a lack of healthier options.

Although had reserved a table I had to wait a good half hour before being seated. Menu choice very good. Food and service was great .a very enjoyable evening. Will be visiting again.

My disappointment lay solely with the menu choice, my usual choice is salmon - but I have never had to eat it with cabbage and beetroot before...... it just didn't go together! Also, I asked whether it was possible to have Lyonnaise potatoes (offered with the bream) instead of new potatoes...... apparently this could not be done as Lyonnaise was 'packaged' with the bream!!!!! Thank god for pudding, as per usual a lovely choice and always superb.

Having frequented the Globe and the Willy Wicket in Bristol on many occasions, I feel like looking for a different venue for meeting up with friends as the menu does not inspire any more.
