Good but not great.

We dined at lunchtime on a Friday. The restaurant was full but it didn't feel busy, and the atmosphere was very calm. The only other Roux restaurant I have been to is Gavroche and so my expectations were sky high. Unfortunately this didn't live up to them - but in fairness to the restaurant it is not trying to be a copy of Gavroche.

The food is good in the main, and the service is 70% there.

Brilliant restaurant

Booked a 630pm dinner for myself and three friends. Had a three course meal for [$]which was amazing value. Superb food, none of us could fault it. I took a chance by having a dessert of pear souffle with gingerbread ice cream, I'm glad I did as it was out of this world. Our only issue was that the cheese trolley had been parked next to us and it was a bit whiffy! But once i asked the waitress to move it there was no issue. Would highly recommend roux at parliament.

The London Restaurant Festival special 3 course lunch at [$] per head (excluding drinks) was good value and the food quality excellent, though portions were on the small side. The wine list, though good, was expensive boosting up the total price. Aperitifs were slow in arriving as was wine service during the meal.

A marvellous dining experience

We dined in the evening and enjoyed the experience from the moment we arrived. The staff were helpful, courteous and knowledgeable - there but not there. The food tasted as good as it looked; presentation was fabulous. The wines complemented the meal superbly.

Would have been excellent, however let down by a terrible waiter who was rather 'rough round the edges' - certainly not what you would expect from a restaurant of its stature. I was left waiting repeatadly with no wine left, looking around for ages until it had happened so many times I had to go to get the wine myself. We felt like we received a 2nd class service as we were dining out on the [$]for 3 courses offer. We also were made to order our deserts at the same time as the starter and main, something which I did not appreciate. The food was very good, although the main selection was limited to chicken, cod or risotto). Luckily, the head waiter noticed the shoddy service, (mainly as I pointed it out to him!) and we were given desert wines on the house as a way of apology. Overall a great restaurant with good food, let down by unattentive staff (with some exceptions). We had a good time, but would not be in a hurry to go back.
