Amazing place but service was bad, the veggie option was even worst for the £29.99 sit meal! 12.5% it should be optional I will

A great dining experience made particularly special by the service my family received. We were a table of 8 and were catered for as if we were all individuals receiving the Aqua Kyoto experience. As additional family members were able to join us at the last minute I was particularly impressed how the booking service was able to accommodate us.
The external bar overlooking the Apple store in Regent street welcomed us before being seated at our table with the weather being both warm and inviting.
Once seated the cocktails were served and we were invited to choose our courses with a selection to suit all our tastes.
Japanese food prepared and served with excellence made it a meeal to remember and return to.
Service was timely and the food was delivered in a very professional and capable manner by a delighful waitress.

The food was good but the portions were too small and the music was too loud in the restaurant.

VERY disappointing - after hearing good things from couple of friends, was looking forward to the experience however could not wait to leave after 10 mins there. The interiors are well appointed however it is more a club atmosphere rather than a restaurant... Charging dance music blaring in the dining area made it difficult to talk/relax and we felt rather annoyed with it. Surprisingly, music in the bar and terrace area was not as loud - great venue if you are having drinks and in a party mood!
Food was a let down - sounded interesting on paper but some flavours were much too strong whereas some other dishes you could not taste what they had described eg. black cod sushi roll - there was nothing distinctive, could not taste the cod. Homemade tofu - could barely taste the truffles/sauce.
Service - not what I would expect from a restaurant charging that much money. Of course they were polite but I felt it was all for show and not genuine. Two separate servers brought over a pot of tea within 3 mins of each other, even though we did not order it and had told the first server. They were not sensitive to what diners needed - one in particular kept coming to check if we were enjoying the food and tried to engage us in conversation when we were clearly not wanting to. He told us what we had ordered was not enough, so we ordered more. What a mistake as there was plenty of food and our original order would have been sufficient. Another did not seem to have any clue what they were serving us, just repeating what they had memorised, trailing off at the end ... " and it is served with these things".
If you like to pose and spend an awful lot of money, this is the perfect place.
I would recommend this venue only as a bar but not to dine in.

Aqua Kyoto was great for a girlie night and the food experience. Amazing deal but I wouldnt want to go there without the deal. With the hidden taxes on top of everything it would have made it horrendously expensive. Regarding the food, we all agreed that we were pleasantly surprised on how yummy it was. It was obvious that the menu was well thought out and was really filling.
Would definitely go again with the deal.

The restaurant was extremely noisy and obviously frequented by young people - we are in our sixties and felt rather out of place. We are not familiar with Japanese food but enjoyed the food except the desserts which were over sweet. The service was excellent.
