It was a special birthday occasion and we had a wonderful time. Food was superb, wine great and the attention to detail and service was faultless. A very enjoyable experience in a perfect location.

Had a wonderful meal at Koffmans. It was a special treat as it was my birthday. The pre theatre meal is excellent value. The food was excellent and the service first class. I can certainly recommend this restaurant and will most certainly be returning.

Amazing food, wonderful staff and a well decorated place. Wines could be a litle bit cheaper

My maiden visit to this well-regarded restaurant came last night, courtesy of a Bookatable deal. And I did not leave disappointed. The the fixed-price options all sounded tempting (although needed a little clarification from the waiter as the menu was so brief it didn't really tell you enough - note to management to look into that!). Following a tasty pre-starter, I plumped for the black pudding remoulade (beautifully-cooked pork blended with the pudding to form a rich and filling combination that was very moreish). Perhaps unwisely I then opted for the roast grouse - I say unwisely not because the dish wasn't up to the mark, but because alongside the starter it proved a rather heavy coupling - entirely my error of course not the restaurant's. The grouse was cooked on the rare side and was perfect - served with parsnip, jus, bread sauce, game chips and a complimentary portion of 'straight' chips. Without wishing to sound ungrateful on the last item, perhaps a more welcome choice would've been a side of spinach or something green; I did feel I was lacking in vegetation and could've done with some to help break down the meatiness of it all. But again, this was a function of my choices rather than the way the dishes were put together. Needless to say all components were impeccably-cooked and it was clear to see why Koffmann's is renowned for its grouse. To follow, cheese was simply too stodgy an option so it had to be a sweet - which was a delicious panna cotta topped with various summer berries. Having polished-off the half-bottle of Languedoc that came as part of the deal I was in need of a more inspiring red to help wash the grouse down with, as well as a suitable dessert wine for afters. I was given a good range of by-the-glass options and sound advice was given as to the optimum choices. Both wines (a claret and a muscat) were splendid and ideal matches for the accompanying courses. The ambience grew as seats were taken, and all-told it was a charming experience.

Set menu choice was very limited, dishes not what you would expect of a chef. My main course was salty yet tasteless.

Very good food, very good value for money. £42 included 3 cources, bottle of wine between 2, 2 bottles of water, tea/coffee and petite fours. Although £42 seems high, as it is all inclusive (except service charge) it was not.

Slightly disappointed that two of the four main courses were unavailable. The duck confit and white bean etc was fairly unmemorable.as were the desserts.Rather similar to the standard of a decent gastro-pub.The staff friendly, efficient and pleasant. The Lowri Hotel (Manchester) provides a far better and inventive lunch menu. Not really the memorable meal I was looking forward to.Didnt really make us want rush back for the a la carte/tasting etc menu.Pity.I don't wish to be too negative as Im sure on another day we may well have had that memorable experience.I should point out we had the lunch time inclusive menu cost for three with service and a glass of wine at the bar £180
