Amazing food and wine but rotten service - way too slow, inattentive

The food is really exceptional, however, I think that there were not enough staff. Service was therefore really poor for the quality of the restaurant and bad enough to spoil the evening. Main problems were - a very long wait for a menu (10 minutes +), bread which arrived after our first course (in other words when you no longer want it), and about 10 minutes after the butter. A glass of dessert wine which actually never arrived, as it took the sommelier such a long time to sort it out that my dessert had arrived and I'd eaten it before the wine arrived. Pretty poor frankly for a michelin starred restaurant, and bad enough to spoil our enjoyment of the evening. Individually the staff were lovely and I wouldnt want to blame them. I can only assume that the profit motive is limiting the number of staff which at £100/head excluding wine and service is a bit much.

We went as part of the LRest Fest but realised that the set price lunch is always available. This makes it outstanding value!!

Something of a disappointment - the quality of the food was patchy, there was an error on the bill, and the classic dining room and the excellent service didn't quite make up for the rest.
