More about The Happenstance

Combining eclectic interiors and floor-to-ceiling views of St Paul’s Cathedral and the City of London, The Happenstance is something out of a storybook. Here, mixologists conjure up colourful cocktails and rich flavours mingle to create a menu of wholesome comfort food.

Fresh ingredients are used to produce dishes bursting with flavour. Favourite starters on The Happenstance menu include prawn lollipops or broad bean & ricotta bruschetta, while delicious mains include wagyu burger with stilton & tomato chutney, or a juicy roast rump of lamb with caponata & mint jus. The dessert menu includes a classic Eton Mess, or a salted caramel & plum sundae with honeycomb crumble.

The mixology table takes centre-stage at The Happenstance, where a list of original cocktails are created. Inventively-named mixes include the ‘Princess Rossini’, ‘Reina Cubano’, and ‘Flight of the Cucumber'.

Shimmering chandeliers, geometric patterns on the floor, and exposed pipes on the ceilings lend a dreamlike ambience to The Happenstance in St Paul’s. This quirky retreat is a 5-minute walk from St Paul’s Tube Station.

I was very disappointed by this recommendation. The interior of the restaurant is lovely but that was it. I used the website 'brunch with a view' as i wanted to ..obviously ..have a good view somewhere in london for brunch with my guests. The happenstance had a view of the road - not what was advertised at all. Total let down. The food was avergae - poached eggs were over cooked. Service was pretty poor ...it took ages for anyone to off me a drink when I arrived I had to get up and ask after 10 minutes even though it wasnt busy. We had to ask for the bill 3 times - again it was not busy. The tip was included in the bill ...more than 10% tip as well. This was optional. We gave less money (we still tipped almost 10% despite poir service) .. and the waiter actually came back as said he didnt have enough and stood there and waited despite the fact I said we didnt want to tip the whole amount.

I was very disappointed by this experience overall.

Hadn't realised when we booked how noisy the music would be. Very busy bar area. Conversation at table very difficult.
Nice food. Attentive staff although they couldn't hear either.
Left quickly as not a relaxing place. Perhaps we're too old?

Food was very nice, particularly the pecan pie. Waiters were possibly a bit TOO attentive but service good as a result. Would definitely come back here again.
