The meal was good value for money and the service was fine. There was a little hiccup with the sweet order but overall I would dine there again

1st visit: This is the second visit I have made to Brewers Fayre. The first time we went I didn't know you had to book, it's a Brewers Fayre ?? We arrived at 6.15 were told to wait when we walked in as there is also a sign at the door "Wait here to be seated" I girl walked apst and said I'll be with you in a minute. 20 minutes later and a few people queing behind us, the girl approached again apologised for keeping us waiting I asked for a table for 2 she said "Have you booked" I said no, I was then told "oh sorry we have nothing for at least an hour", although there were quite a few, at least 6 tables empty some still with dishes still on them. I was rather annoyed, after being kept waiting for 20mins.

2nd Visit: I booked online this time, arrived at 6.30, we were shown to our seat, which appeared to be in the family section? as there was crying babies all around, we were told by someone who was waiting at the door when we came in that someone called Steven would be looking after us. We read the menu and waited, and waited and waited, a young man walked past and I stopped him and asked who was serving our table, he said no one you have to order at the bar. Slightly annoyed at not being told this when we arrived 35 mins before, I went to the bar to order. There was already 4 people ahead of me, one man complaining about something, he took at least 10 mins to sort everything out. Finally I placed my order around 7.20, I asked the man serving me how long the waiting time was - he said 35mins? It was however only about 10 mins thankfully. We both ordered Scampi chips & garden peas, as we were on route to the cinema and didn't want anything too heavy . Wholetail Scampi ( but every piece was the exact same size and shape) Oven chips and frozen peas. £7.95 each + a drink each came to £23.50 I shan't be rushing back again I'm afraid.
Real chips would have been nice.
