Situated in the building of Grand Hotel de'l Europe, which often acts as a movie set for international productions, you can find Ginger'n Gin. The restaurant & cocktailbar overlooking the waterfall, has only lately been installed on the lower floors of the landmarked building with extensive construction effort. In the open kitchen an award-winning chef is creating striking dishes. From 10PM the restaurant slowly transferres to an impressive in vouge bar with the bar-staff mixing cocktails to everyone's taste. Not only the main room, but also the attached Belle Époque ceremonial halls eg. Nibelungenlounge are frequently used as venues for a broad range of happenings from concerts over DJ acts to art exhibitions. Whether it's Gin or Rum ... Something you did not expect.

Very disapointing. Not seated in Ginger but in another empty hall. Just us two, later another table of four. The fondue was meat to be cooked in not very hot bouillon. So it took forever and the meat was not very warm. We sent it back twice but were told this was as it should be.

Food was good but nothing special. Service is poor!!!!. We were guided to our table by a kind of maitre. Just seconds later an other waiter came and asked in an unfrendly way if we had a reservation for this table. After we answered his question the waiter disapeared and was not seen for several minutes. When the waiter finaly came to ask us for drinks, we wanted to know what kind of champagne is availalble. The waiter did not know. As we ordered a bottle of Taittinger he did not understand, because he did not know the original french pronunciation. The champagne was serverd in a coller with ice and opened. After the cooler was placed ath the end of the table. Durring the whole dinner the waiters did not ask once to refill our empty glasses. The empty plates were not taken away for at least 10 minutes. We were not asked if we want some dessert or some more drinks. The price level is quite high but the service level is quite poor. The restaurant is obviously made only to pull money out of the pockets of tourists. There is no kind of passion in service nor in the kitchen. In the past I have not visited a restaurant where price level and sercice level differed so much.

we tried the restaurant twice, both time with reserving a table, first time was before big tourist run - service and dishes were excellent, second time - bad gastein very crowded with tourists - eating there a desaster - when reserving a table i do not expect to be seating in the last corner without a waiter coming along, we even got the wrong bill (double as high as ours) - all of that without an excuse. when i explained them the case, still there was no understanding...it´s simple about making money fast... so don´t go there twice.
