This is one of our favourite restaurants, the welcoming staff, ambience, food & excellent service always ensures our return, however like most restaurants it can’t always be rated 5* & unfortunately that was the case with our latest visit. We arrived 15 mins before our 12pm booking time, as usually the staff are happy to seat their first table bookings a little earlier, but on this occasion the doors did not actually open until 12pm, so a queue had already formed. This should not have been a problem though as we were seated immediately & given our chosen pre theatre menu to order. The problem arose when our starter arrived....the Wedge of Brie was served under cooked, the filo pastry was still white & slightly moist and the Brie inside had not melt. It’s a real shame because this dish, although simple, is usually one of the best starters. As the restaurant was already quite busy and we didn’t have time to wait for a replacement, we left it and just advised the waiter when he collected our plates. The rest of our meal, sea bass followed by cheesecake & creme brûlée was of the usual high standard and the Kir Royale always adds something special. Maybe they were running a little late that day and rushed the starters? It’s hard for me to down rate this restaurant as I love it here, but my reviews are based on each individual visit and on this occasion there was a slight “hiccup”.

Lovely friendly restaurant with good food. We had the pre theatre menu - thoroughly enjoyed the mushroom soup and fillet of trout with crushed potatoes. Service was efficient and friendly. And the loos were clean and pleasant!

Everything was perfect from start to finish. We arrived early but that was not a problem. Restaurant was very busy but service was good. Concerned we might be encouraged to vacate the table but that didn’t happen. Recommend the sea bass.

Very busy and didn’t enjoy the choice of music as it didn’t suit the style of restaurant but food was nice and we weren’t rushed. Shame they want to charge more than Bookatable advertises the Star Deal for...

Arrived and restaurant was very busy - obviously can’t be helped! We had no set waiter and were served by multiple people - which slowed down overall service.we had booked the 3 course and Kir Royale set menu but it took 15 minutes to receive this menu and order. We were going to the theatre for 7:30 (had a 6:00pm meal booked) and asked on arrival if we would get through all set 3 courses in time considering how busy it was. We were told we would - however we had only just finished the mains at 7:00 and then there were complications with our dessert order - so in the end we left having just had two courses. They did knock £7.50 off the bill for the desserts and were apologetic. Food was lovely but atmosphere felt chaotic.
Offres - 3 courses & a Kir Royale £22.50 per person
Offres - Afternoon tea with free-flowing prosecco £26.95 per person
