Présentation du restaurant

Close to the bustle of Liverpool Street and Bishopsgate, Grapeshots in London is a welcome refuge with classic British food and real ale. The traditional menu is served all day, with fine wines and vintage ports to enjoy in the intimate bar, lined with wood panelling and hessian-clad walls.

The Grapeshots menu is full of rustic, comforting dishes like bangers and mash with Madeira gravy and homemade onion rings, wild mushroom risotto with Portobello mushroom, and king prawn and crab linguine with tomato, chilli and garlic.

Cumberland sausage with mash and gravy is a homely favourite at many of the Davy’s wine bars in London. It’s on the menu at Grapeshots Artillery Passage, along with a big range of chunky hot sandwiches, like grilled goat’s cheese and Mediterranean vegetable, and homemade fish finger and rocket.

The Grapeshots staff will be happy to guide you through the extensive wine list, with a broad European and new world choice. Grapeshots bar is a 6-minute walk from Liverpool Street Tube Station.

, Always a pleasure. Unfortunately. a kitchen refit restricted food options. Service is always good there

Great value with Tastecard, finding the place is a bit harder with all the new buildings and ubiquitous works obscuring ancient winding streets. It really is two minutes' walk from the Bishopsgate entrance to Liverpool St Tube. Cheese and charcuterie were very good and the fish and chips special, well the fish was excellent and I asked them to substitute veg for the chips. Which they did, no charge, perhaps it saved the cook some deep frying on the hottest day of the year. Yet the accompaniments weren't up to much, beans soggy, peas not in the least mushy, tartare sauce the stuff of the holiday season. That said, the service was excellent, the wine good by the glass and when life returns to the City after the summer, it will be back to its cosy competence.

Nice ambience, friendly service but disappointed with food. For entrees we had the goats cheese beetroot salad and mozzarella tomato basil salad. For mains we had the chicken and red wine casserole, and duck confit and chorizo. The goats cheese was good but the salad leaves did not have any dressing. The mozzarella salad was not interesting at all. Both mains were over seasoned with salt. Portion size of the casserole was small and was served with 2 slices of buttered toast on the side. The duck confit presentation was good but the skin was not crispy.

Poor service and indigestible food. We also found a hair in the food and have since seen that the restaurant has a poor food hygiene rating.

The food and drink was good and the atmosphere was nice. The bar was busy, but our table was downstairs in the restaurant area. Despite booking the 50% off food deal with Bookable, we were told it was a Tastecard deal that they offer and a max of 2 people per tastecard. Luckily we had 2 tastecard a between the 3 of us. If not, the food would have been quite expensive for what it was.

food average. ordered houmous and flat bread to start, the houmous very thin and runny, and the bread was bits of ordinary bread that was probably stale and needed to be used up

Tucked away in the mazy medieval streets of Bishopsgate, this little wine bar is hiding in plain sight. The booking was taken and a corner table reserved in the dining basement. We were served a lovely lady and took a maternal interest in what we ordered, solicitous without being in the least overbearing. It's an art. The salads were fresh and the hot food was hearty and competent (ham and potato salad cooked just so, the duck confit too, although somewhat over-seasoned). Davy's house red is very good for the price, and at our request the lady brought us additional small glasses (125ml) of the superb Brouilly. With the tastecard 50% off all food, quite outstanding value for a cold night in the City.

We were seated near the bar so it was rather noisy. I didn't realise there were tables downstairs which would have been preferable. The service was rather slow but the House red wine was very good but quite pricey. My friend ordered the risotto which was delicious whereas my dish of home baked ham was a little disappointing as I expected it to be warm at least as it was serviced with fairly hot new potatoes. The cheese board was also disappointing as the amount of cheese offered for £3.50 per selection was very small. In hindsight my friend & I should have ordered it separately rather than sharing so at least we would have received more crackers & cheese. Thankfully I had a tastecard so the price we paid with the 50% discount was ok.

This is a lovely place. The service was good although the wrong dish was served, they changed it without any hassle. The wine list was extensive!!! The waiters were lovely, I loved the atmosphere, although extremely busy this didn't take away from a great dining experience. Looking forward to returning : )
