Excellent service and pizza in an unusual setting (a lovely, old fashioned building with a number of small rooms).

The restaurant is nice enough. The food is okay but overpriced for what you get, the filling in my calzone was inadequate and the size of the portions very small for the money.

The restaurant was clean and the decor created a good ambiance. The displays of old keys were an interesting feature and got us wondering where the doors were that they belonged to! The age and nature of this building with its many small rooms and historical feel make it an interesting place to eat. It was surprisingly empty for a Sunday lunchtime but that could have been due to holiday season and families being away. Staff were friendly and attentive. Food arrived promptly and without issue. We all enjoyed our dishes - penne, pizzas and salad.

There are some rooms in the Harpenden restaurant which are too small and completely lack atmosphere or worse still are dominated by a large party if you are not part of it. We moved into the main room an it was fine. The garlic bread starter was slightly under-done and the pizza's lacked the slight black charring you get from a proper pizza oven.

Had a meal out with family, booked early. Restaurant didn't seem that busy but service was very slow. Arrived at 6:30, may have considered sweet but left at 9:00pm without. Two and a half hours to serve a starter and main is a bit too long. Can't fault staff as it was not their fault, was it shortages of staff in kitchen or front of house? Either way not as good as past experiences.
