    Good meal with a wide ranging selection. Waiting staff attentive but not intrusive. Very enjoyable.

    Excellent service from start to finish, quickly shown to our table for the five of us. Ordered drinks and again delivered to our table quickly. Main course were all very good with great food, served piping hot, desserts were equally good. An excellent experience, friendly staff and nice ambience

    This is a lovely warm and very welcoming inn. The real fires were great. All the staff were very attentive but not in your face.all the I saw being served looked great and our table of 5 were very pleased with what we had.the latest cation is also different. We were dining and watching the long boats pass by on the canal.

    Even thou booked on line. The waitress of which there were only 2 for a very busy evening, who also manned the bar, could not find. We were a party so used her initiative and saw there was 4 of us and asked oh yes its a table of 4. We knew she did not have our details and this came apparent when we did not have the 20% discount deducted from our final bill. This was amended on sight of the email received at time of booking. We wanted to eat at a particular area, to be informed that due to alot of diners being outside the bottom area of the restaurant was basically out of bounds. So we sat at the top with an annoying fly. We did have to wait a while for our food to be brought to the table. This is not the fault of the staff but due to the lack of them. The food was 'good' but not up to the normal standard we are used to and the reason for the return visit. The prawn and scallop starter at £7.50 was an expensive mistake. 4 prawns and 1 scallop cut in half! Not value for money. The main meals were not as i remember the normal size portions and on the dry side. I have heard that the meals during the day are better due to a different chef? This i cannot verify. However when we came last time it was during the day?? I have also heard whether true or not that the food is bought in and microwaved! I truly hope that this is not the case and would feel cheated and totally disappointed. I have recommended this restaurant to colleagues and friends and dont feel i can justify doing it again after the experience received. I hope this was a one off. Finally when our party left we were given a offer to join the mailing list and receive a bottle of "bubbly" on my birthday. The occassion was for my birthday. It was also noted on the email confirmation. Guess what No bottle of "bubbly".
