Sister restaurant of the celebrated New York outpost, Bar Boulud is a French bistro and wine bar set within the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park. Serving classic bistro dishes alongside American favourites, the restaurant has been under the direction of Michelin-starred chef, Daniel Boulud, since opening in 2010.
As well as featuring signature homemade charcuterie and burgers, the Bar Boulud menu showcases ever-changing seasonal dishes from Executive Chef, John Barber. Creations might include the infamous French Poule au Pot (poached corn-fed chicken breast & legs with root vegetables & spinach), or citrus-glazed duck breast, warm quinoa salad, turnips & sauce Bigarade. . The wine list at Bar Boulud in London centres around the Burgundy and Rhône Valley regions, with 30 bins available by the glass.
An interior from Adam Tihany is inspired by the culture of the French winemaking regions. Catch glimpses of cork, oak and red leather, plus rustic chandeliers designed to resemble deconstructed wine barrels. As well as the impressive wine cellar at Bar Boulud in Knightsbridge, Bar Boulud features 2 private dining rooms for up to 24 each or 40 when combined.

We had the set menu that was very good but were not sure that black olives were a good accompaniment for sea trout (main course) and were surprised to have only pate for the charcuterie starter ( it was very good, but I did wonder whether it was a mistake, apparently not so). The 2012 Savigny les Beaune was underwhelming considering the price. The tarte tatin was superb. The food was very good value. The setting and ambience were very good, and the service impeccable. Overall one of the nicest restaurants we have been to in London and we will certainly go again.

Overall good value as we opted for the 3 course set menu with bubbles and complemented with a lovely bottle of red wine, The service was friendly but also attentive.

The restaurant had no record of the booking whatsoever. We did manage to get a table but I was concerned that there was no record of teh booking despite your confirmation e-mails.

Excellent service, lovely staff, attentive but not intrusive. Wonderful food and a mango soufflé to die for.
