A poor experience. On arrival for a booked table we were greeted by a server holding plates of food. We followed the server to the right hand corner of the restaurant - there was then a head gesture of your table is over there - on the far left! We were seated at 7.15pm. No food order was taken until 7.35pm. No allergy check was undertaken. We asked about rapeseed oil. Around 10 minutes elapsed. The server came back. I had to choose again. By 8.00pm we were hungry. No food had arrived. I spoke with the duty manager. Then a starter for my husband and my main arrived at the table with a random prawn cocktail! It didn't seem that my husband's main course had been ordered. When it did arrive the naan bread was like cardboard. We did not eat breakfast in the hotel the next morning - our preference was to eat elsewhere. I would not eat in this restaurant again and made the duty manager aware of my dissatisfaction.

Ate in the Palette restaurant on the 2nd night of our stay to make use of our Secret Escapes food credit offer. The food was fine apart from the starter - an asparagus 'platter' which consisted of 4 thin asparagus stems a salad garnish and a little sauce. Hardly a platter and rather mean for £9.95!! The restaurant was almost empty - only 5 or 6 tables taken at 8 pm. Very quiet... It still took over half an hour to get our starter. There was a Christmas party going on in the hotel so that might account for it. We were presented with our bill to sign at the end of the meal. When we queried the amount , expecting our food credit offer to be applied, as they knew what our deal was, we were told that would be done at checkout the next day. It was, but again why not say so at the time. Why did we have to ask? Perhaps better communication and staff training?

The restaurant is lovely but the meal itself was average.

I've been to The Rembrandt for afternoon tea before so knew, in general, what to expect. It's ideally located across the road from the V&A museum so makes a very nice follow up to visiting the V&A. The afternoon tea was nice, however it is a bit unusual that you are only served with one of each of cakes rather than one each so you have to share them if you want to try them all (which is not easy when one is a cream horn!). On this occasion, the sandwiches were also not the best presented and were served in a combined 'stack' rather than a row. The tea and bubbles were lovely.

Restaurant was just renovated, but the design is still non-enticing. Ugly carpet, and no clear style. Menu is simple, but still not very well cooked. Pies are not actual pies. Wine is not served at the table, so you don’t know if you got the right one, I think we didn’t. A lot of easy fixes could make it a great place, but right now it’s just sloppy.

We had a wonderful experience at the Rembrandt. The staff were so welcoming and did their utmost to make my mum’s birthday special. We made a special request because of her allergies and they went over and beyond. Thank you to the chef and the maitre d in the palette restaurant. Thank you so much ??

Lovely afternoon tea. Very polite and helpful staff Although we wasn’t too keen on the roasted vegetable sandwiches, they were. bit soggy Also it might have been helpful to remind us that there was mini quiches. By the time we remembered we had eaten nearly all the cakes and didn’t fancy the savoury quiches.

Unfortunately the afternoon tea failed to impress my family and I. The waitress was not very helpful and did not attend to our needs. The sandwiches were rather bland and the quiches had a savoury filling in a sweet pastry flan case served on a plate of brown lettuce. The fruit cups had rather too much cream and hardly any fresh fruit which made them rather sickly. There were only two cakes either carrot or cream slice which were bland and dry. The tea was tea bags and there was no offer of topping up with anymore hot water. However, the highlight were the home made scones which did meet our expectations.
