Excellent afternoon tea at a vèry reasonable cost. Cakes and scones were delicious. Very friendly and efficient staff. Elegant rooms and garden and surprisingly free parking for guests and customers. Perfect!

Sadly I was admitted to hospital on Friday 6/5/16 and was unable to accompany my wife and granddaughter. This was a booked as a little treat for my granddaughter for doing so well with her exam results.. I was not pleased to hear from my wife when she came to visit me that she was extremely disappointed with the service, seating arrangements and choice of cakes and sandwiches..I booked for a sitting in the Dining Area, however, my wife was shown Into the lounge and seated around a low occasional table. The table not was set up with cloth or cutlery. No light music playing to allow ease of conversation. No choice was given for sandwiches which all had pickle or dressing on them. The cakes were bland and again all had been decorated with buttercream. The scones were plain and very hard and dry. My wife had to go seeking for staff to ask for hot water for their tea which was brought to them by a very solemn waiter who just put the pot on the table without speaking. Having browsed and read the hotel website this was not the standard I would have expected. One young teenagers introduction to 'afternoon tea' turned out to be a very disappointing event.

Excellent dining experience, more cakes than the wife could eat (no problem), never ending tea and brilliant service. Will go again.

Nice comfortable dining area. Pleasant helpful staff. Sandwiches were fine, cakes were disappointing. Scones too large, plain only no fruit option. Brownies are kids cakes. Poppy seed cake ok. Coffee and tea fine.

Lovely Hotel - I came here several times to stay in the 1980s and 1990s. High tea was wonderful but the balance is not right - should be more sandwiches and less cakes. The scones weren't really scones, the mix too light and crumbly. However, the standard of food was good, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I had coffee instead of tea and it was beautiful coffee - really lovely.

Really comfortable lounge, very good service with very friendly helpful staff. We had afternoon high tea. Sandwiches were ham..salmon and brie which were very tasty. Cream tea was fantastic, real strawberry jam, large pot of clotted cream and the largest scones I have ever seen. We struggled to eat them. Then we had cakes! A lovely lemon cake. A very smooth chocolate mousse in like a tall shot glass and a what liked like a chocolate brownie which we didn't try as nobody had any room left. Two large pots of tea between four of us and a glass of prosecco each. A really lovely afternoon would highly recommend.
