A finalist in Masterchef: The Professionals in 2016, Matt Healy at The Foundry is a funky modern venue for unique takes on British classics worthy of a Michelin Plate in the Michelin Guide. The red brick warehouse-style space is loaded with character, and features seating at the front to enjoy al fresco meals and drinks.
Matt Healy has crafted a truly inventive, exciting menu that gives new life to established British dishes. Nibble on snacks and charcuterie to start, like chorizo in cider, or order some of the small plate sharers like hand-cut beef tartare with yolk and a cheese and onion toastie. Tastes of the local area are served up with the Yorkshire venison, with other seasonal dishes added to the menu constantly.
An extensive wine list is on hand at Matt Healy at The Foundry in Leeds to complement any meal, along with freshly mixed cocktails like the gin and tonic made with Portobello Road Gin and fresh botanicals. Desserts are beautifully presented too, and include favourites like crème brûlée doughnut, and lemon posset with sherbet and meringue.

The best Sunday dinner I’ve ever had. Impeccable service made to feel very welcome. The toffee sauce on the desert is something I think about most days. It was UNREAL. Can not wait to go back!

An excellent dining experience. For a high end restaurant, I thought it was good value (about £60 per head with drinks and a three course meal). The food was outstanding, being simple, tasty, perfectly cooked and elegant on the plate. I've been to a few high restaurants in the past and this compares very favourably in terms of the quality of the dishes however, unlike my previous experiences Matt Healy's establishment was far less pretentious.

We really enjoyed the food but 2 of us ordered the hand dive scallop for starter and felt that just 1 scallop for £9.50 was a bit steep!

Excellent from beginning to end. The booking process was easy and straightforward. Very warm welcome on arrival and the service was excellent. Food what can I say BRILLIANT Best steak I have had in ages and my wife's meal was excellent too. We will definitely be back soon.

A good experience all round, tentative staff, tasty food, and comfy surroundings. If I were to score out of 10 for the whole experience it would be a strong 7. Lots of competition in Leeds for a £50 per head eatery (including wine), our bill was £200 for 4 people. Only grumble was the gnocchi appeared over done (a little mushy) which I accepted.. Friends had been the two nights previous and both sent that dish back. I would recommend to friends, but possibly to sample menu of lunch first..

We received a very warm welcome from the door being opened for us and a lovely bubbly lady on the check in area, all other waiters/waitresses said hello and acknowledged us being in there, the waitress who saw us too our table said she would leave us with our coats which was fine as it was a little cold when we arrived but she never came back to take them, a small thing that would have been appreciated. The food was amazing, we had oysters, sourdough bread and chorizo... I wouldn’t change any of these dishes we loved them and their presentation, especially the marmite butter. Which we washed down with a bottle of the Sauvignon bland. We then followed this with the belly pork which with the Asian twist this was delicious. For our main dishes we had the beef and the lamb. Both very good and the hot pot was a nice surprise. Maybe an extra potato with the beef would be nice. I’m not sure if it’s what we picked but after the belly pork and the larger plates we did think it was very salt heavy, I appreciate this is where a lot of the taste can come from but maybe something to consider in the cooking as when you are having combos they can be very rich. This didn’t distract from our enjoyment in overall. We then finished this off with the divine sticky toffee pudding. Simply gorgeous. One thing I did notice was that the kitchen staff, when not busy could congregate or look disinterested... one thing to watch for, I appreciate we had a 5pm booking but still very important.
