Very nice, quiet, Sunday lunch, a real good "destresser" in what had been a manic period of work. The Hotel and grounds are full of the right sort of character and ambience to promote this feeling We arrived on what was clearly a very quiet period for the restaurant, and as a consequence waited a while to book in & get a menu etc. Service was very good as it generally is here. the 2 minor disappointments are no bread rolls were offered at the start of the meal as we had been used to. In fact none were available, which even for a quiet day surprised us. And we were asked if we would like sauce etc with the main, and sadly had to be advised that there was no cranberry sauce available, again surprising for this establishment. None the less the food served was very nice and extremely good value.

My husband chose this for his birthday. £74 seemed a bit steep for a fish pie that was primarily tinned tuna followed by a tiny bowl of over-sugared apple crumble. we did have wine though had to remind the waitress. The service was very slow. Its a shame as we had a lovely meal there a few years ago. We won't be going back.

The chilton Manor is in a very nice location. 12 acre site on the outskirts of Southampton. Overall very impressed however small attention to detail and no choice of teas stopped me from giving a 5* rating. I would have liked to see a larger tea selection rather than just good old PG tips. For an afternoon tea the food was excellent and well presented and set in a quiet and peaceful position on the terrace.

Went for afternoon tea. Not much choice in teas, fruit flavoured or normal. Just a basic cheap afternoon tea. Had better. Found a hair on the side of the jelly pot. Cakes were ok. Didn't find the staff to be very attentive, other places that are dearer they have told you what is in the sandwiches & what flavours the cakes were. Room was pretty bare with no atmosphere, only one other family in there at the time. Even though the hotel has recently been refurbished it lacked warmth & charm. Wouldn't go back.

Afternoon tea at the stunning Chilworth Manor. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful set in an idyllic ground full of grace and elegance. Perfect for a romantic afternoon tea. The service was commendable, with our waiter being very attentive without imposing and also very accommodating with alternatives being offered. The food was all beautiful presented and completely devine. With the mini sandwich in a variety of breads and filling. There were also the traditional fresh scones which came accompanied with cream and strawberry jam. My favorite part was certainly the extensive variety of mini desserts; several delicious macaroons- each uniquely flavored, meringue nests, baklava type sweets as well as mini carrot, coffee or raspberry cakes. Certainly more than enough for two to consume.

We spent a look time at the bar waiting to find out where we were going to sit, and felt that when we were placed for something to eat, that we were in the main thoroughfare of everthing, the food was lovely but, everthing else spoilt it
