The music from a wedding celebration was so loud as we walked into the hotel that it was impossible to hear what the receptionist said. Very good and friendly service to reseat us from a table in the dark behind the door, where the loud music made conversation impossible. I would not have booked had I known Music was still loud but at least we could hear each other. Starters - goats cheese bon bons on rocket - no rocket and two of the three bon bons had no cheese inside, soup a bit bland, prawn cocktail enjoyable. Mains - steak overdone, burger just okay, curry good. Service was slow as the party of 20+diners were served first. The wine was served late after we had started to eat the main course. I question whether my booking should have been taken as the hotel was so busy with the wedding and the group of 20+ diners in the restaurant. We were the only other diners in the restaurant - and not belonging to this group. We were repeatedly offered food ordered by this group. We left as soon as we had finished. The bar was not available for another drink as it was full of wedding guests. experience was not a good one. A shame as we have enjoyed a meal here before. This was a special visit for our guest who was visiting from America and had her wedding reception here some years ago. Sadly we will not be returning next week as planned with other family visiting from America.
