Offering postcard-worthy views over Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, The Library serves up a delicious afternoon tea throughout the day and a sumptuous set supper at night. Located in the Marriott County Hall Hotel, The Library features oak bookcases stacked with the classics and busts of literary and historical figures like Shakespeare, Plato and Milton, which transport diners back to the glamorous era of the 1920s.
On The Library menu, afternoon tea features freshly cut finger sandwiches filled with reimagined classics like London Cured Salmon and caper butter on beetroot bread and honey cured ham and mustard on spinach bread. Irresistible arrangements of cakes and fancies include matcha tea and white chocolate macaron and the caramelised milk chocolate and chestnut slice, as well as sweet and plain scones served with seasonal jams and clotted cream. Liquid accompaniments include fine leaf teas, flutes of champagne and botanical gin cocktails.
Award-winning Executive Head Chef Jamie Welch has created a new elegant menu for The Library featuring contemporary British dishes with a modern twist. Diners to The Library will have the opportunity to sample a six course tasting menu using the best locally produce sourced seasonally. To complement the experience, a carefully crafted selection of wines has been meticulously paired with each dish to ensure the perfect accompaniment.
Near the iconic London Eye, this is a quintessentially English retreat in one of the city’s most vibrant areas. The Marriot County Hall Hotel is 4 minutes’ walk from Waterloo Station. The Library London can be accessed via the main entrance on Westminster Bridge Road or alternatively, enter via the South Bank (Queen's Walk), above the London Aquarium. Valet parking is also available on site.

Booked afternoon tea with flowing Prosecco and really enjoyed the experience. Service was excellent and all the staff were really friendly. The sandwiches, scones and cakes were lovely as vouched for by my friends and you could ask for more sandwiches. I am gluten free and had gluten free bread, scones and alternative desserts which were really tasty. We had the tea in the Library at a table overlooking the Thames. Really recommend the place.

Afternoon tea in the library was a wonderful experience, especially in December when it was decorated with Christmas trees. Amazing service, delicious tea and pastries. I can especially recommend the one with the free flowing champagne

Afternoon tea at the old library is all you could ask for- beautiful setting, yummy food and attentive staff. We had bottomless Prosecco which was topped up generously and we asked for extra sandwiches cos they were so yummy. This was my first time but my daughter has been 4 times now and I can see why. We highly recommend :)

Had a great experience for afternoon tea. Arrived early but was able to go straight to table. Staff very attentive and friendly. Lovely choice of teas on offer. Food looked freshly prepared and very appetising. Nice variety of sandwiches. The presseco was flowing nicely. All in all a lovely afternoon spent watching the world go by on the Thames.
