Présentation du restaurant
Set within easy reach of Queen Street & Cornmarket Street, Chequers offers a menu of traditional British pub classics in a warm, friendly atmosphere. Housed in a 16th-century building, the pub once exhibited strange animals discovered by 17th-century explorers, and technological marvels of the age.
Since Nicholson’s pubs were first established in 1873, these traditional British inns have become synonymous with warm hospitality, hearty pub food and a speciality range of ales. As well as always featuring British pub classics like beer-battered fish & chips and gammon & eggs, the Chequers menu is complemented by a rotating selection of pie, sausage & chop and fish specials for each season.
The Chequers bar is always stocked with exquisite gins, warming whiskies and fine wines to pair with favourite meals, and there’s always a superb range of seasonal and regional real ales on offer. A constant at the bar is the St Austell-brewed Nicholson’s Pale Ale, made with Cornish Maris Otter malts, and a hand-picked blend of English hops.
Chequers in Oxford is a 12-minute walk from Oxford Rail Station.

Starters were good however the mains were not. Service was good and everyone was very helpful. Location is wonderful and the restaurant itself is tastefully decorated with a wonderful terrace.
