Situated down a quiet side street, on the corner of elegant St Peter’s Square, The Carpenter’s Arms is an independent nineteenth century pub with a beautiful garden where the food is the star, only serving the freshest and seasonal ingredients. Despite its many changes of ownership over the last century and a half, The Carpenter’s Arms still keeps to the traditions of St. Benedict – that true hospitality be provided to travellers and strangers.

The Carpenter’s Arms seasonally focused modern British menu features dishes like grilled Creedy duck breast with Jerusalem artichokes, ravioli stuffed with buffalo ricotta or chargrilled marinated onglet steak with chips.

To finish, try a delicious baked Yorkshire rhubarb with meringue and crème fraiche or lemon pannacotta with caramelised pink navel orange at The Carpenter’s Arms.A variety of real ales, cocktails and world wines are served from the bar.

The proud holder of multiple local-scene awards, including best pub in Hammersmith, The Carpenter’s Arms Hammersmith is a short 5 minutes' stroll from Stamford Brook Tube Station.

Fabulous wine selection with decent food options for 3 course meal. Thoughtful early dining offer and wines by the bottle to-go. Loved the SOLARA ORANGE wine to accompany the seafood dishes. Overall food was decent with some dishes require minor improvements. Below are the breakdown for each dish. Entree: Guinea Fowl, Chicken & Leek Terrine, Apricot Chutney, Chicken Skin Focaccia > Terrine had amazing flavours, chicken skin focaccia would be amazing if it was executed well. But it was a disappointment - chewy and hard (couldn't cut through it) it seems to be warmed up in the microwave instead of the oven. Sea Trout Croquettes, Tomato Relish, Pizzicato Yogurt & Samphire > Great flavours with generous amount of trout but would be better if they were served hot. It was lukewarm when it was delivered. Mains: Brixham Turbot & Mussels in Tomato Stew & Samphire >Fabulous rich flavours that were spot on! Fish & Mussels were cooked beautifully. Highlight of the night! Marinated Onglet Steak, Tenderstem Broccoli, roasted potatoes & Chimichurri > Steak was under-seasoned and undercooked (served rare instead of medium rare as stated on the menu), tenderstem broccoli was sadly old and had lots of fibre. Best part of the dish was the crispy potatoes! We could have a whole bowl of it. Desserts: Frangipane Tart & Vin Santo Mascarpone -Loved it! Loved the crust and filling had the right level of sweetness. Chocolate Pudding, Plum Ice Cream - Very rich and beautifully executed but was a tad salty. Apple, Cinnamon & Hazelnut Crumble, Crème Anglaise - Great flavours and loved the crumble topping but presentation could be improved?

Nice ambience. Food was OK but thought it was expensive for what it was. The 'muffin' with the terrine was too solid to eat. We did ask for some bread but it never came. Our wine sat on the bar ready on a tray for about 10 minutes - was just about to get it myself when a blonde lady serving noticed it and looked round to see who's it was and brought it over. I have had much better meals than this one here.

Great, fresh, food. Portions (especially given it was a roast dinner) smaller than you get in most pubs but that was good for me; I didn’t feel ‘stuffed’ at the end. Service was attentive but laid back. If you’re in a bit of a rush you’ll think the wait time for food and service is a bit long but we weren’t so actually appreciated the gap between courses. Also, I personally hate it when plates are collected the second you’ve had the last mouthful (which the waiters didn’t do, to their credit). £35 for three courses (not including drinks) seemed a bit steep but given the current situation, I was more than happy to pay it and support a really charming, local establishment. Lovely garden

I lvoe the Carpenter's Arms. Such a beautiful pub, a Hammersmith hidden gem and a beautiful space. The staff were really helpful, possibly a bit too busy to always notice an empty glass, for example, but with a high degree of friendliness to counter a few waits. The food was good, getting back to pre-Covid standards. Set menu a little pricey and could have been clearer that 2 courses were available.
