A traditional afternoon tea that completely lived up to our expectations. My guest was celebrating her birthday and the chef sent out a couple of extra cakes with a Happy Birthday greeting. The service and food were exemplary.

The afternoon tea and setting were lovely. We were a bit disappointing in the welcome. On arrival we asked the waiter a couple of things, for example if we could eat outside, he replied no. Also if we could decorate the tables, he replied no. It just seemed everything was difficult to accommodate. He also said that we need to leave by 6 so they can get ready for dinner service, the restaurant was hardly busy so I am sure the team could have started to get that room ready even though we were still in there. It just seemed a bit unwelcoming, especially after everything going on with the pandemic, we were expecting a bit more of a friendly welcome.

We had a lovely time on Saturday afternoon, however, for what we received was extremely over priced! I ordered/requested a birthday surprise cake for my mother in law. We did receive a very small piece of cake on a slate, that particular cake was already being served with our lunch. To pay an extra £10-£15 pounds for this was unacceptable. And for paying for children under the age of 8 years old was again completely unacceptable. I do understand that this was a champagne lunch but was way overpriced for what we received and also felt rushed, was looked over and asked constantly if we were ok with everything!

Excellent lunch enjoyed by all three of us. Served in the Terrace which is , in our opinion, much more pleasant and atmospheric than the Mulberry at present.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the Oatlands Park Hotel. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food excellent. As it was a 50th birthday celebration for a friend, it was important to me to have made the right choice of venue for her. I definitely had with Oatlands Park. Recommended.

The afternoon tea was a very high quality and they catered excellently for gluten free - it's so hard to get a good gluten free afternoon tea but they managed it. The manager was very helpful with the information needed in advance

We had an offer of bed, breakfast and evening meal so the evening meal set menu was understandably limited, but the choice for non veggies was burger and chips, fish and chips or chicken curry. But these are all what we'd expect from a High Street take-away, not a proper 4 star restaurant. Their website says their restaurant "showcases modern British cuisine with a twist, using the very best seasonal ingredients". Mushy peas with the fish and chips hardly constitutes "the very best seasonal ingredients". We felt sorry for one couple, obviously there for a celebration, who had a bottle of champagne (the cheapest being £63 including the 12.5% service charge), and drank it with fish and chips and a burger. There was an a la carte menu that had meals with vegetables and we asked if we could have a cheaper option from that for our main course but we were told we had paid for the set menu and an a la carte choice, even a cheaper one than the set £18.50 burger meal, would cost an extra £10 each, plus the "optional" 12.5% service. Starters and desserts were limited but a much more acceptable choice. But the set menu only allowed a choice of two courses. We did, one night, have the a la carte menu and had a lovely pork tenderloin with those seasonal vegetables, but we had to pay separately for this. Such a shame that the set menu choice was so limited and nothing like the special dining experience we had so much looked forward to. The breakfast was delicious, served in our room because of Covid, but well cooked and plentiful.

All of the staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. Overall however, our three night break was disappointing for three reasons. The "superior" room was quite small and the bottom two thirds of the windows had frosted glass and so it felt more like a prison cell than a luxury hotel room. Secondly the two course set menu was something you would expect as a takeaway, i.e. fish and chips, curry and beefburger and certainly not in a good hotel. We did have the a la carte menu on one evening (the other two the set menu was included) and that was very good. A shame they dummed it down so much for the special offers. Thirdly, the extensive grounds which are made a lot of on their website are basically fields which no one cares for and a private lake that is mainly unapproachable.
