Awarded an AA Rosette, The Brasserie Bar & Restaurant at Crewe Hall offers a contemporary twist on classic flavours. Afternoon Tea at Crewe Hall is a luxurious treat for those wanting to experience classic dining tradition in a quintessentially British setting.

The grill menu at Crewe Hall showcases prime cuts of meat such as sirloin steak served homemade chips, or roast bone marrow with braised beef brisket and blue cheese. Elsewhere on the menu find the likes of pan-fried sea bass with potato gnocchi, and sticky toffee pudding with sea salt caramel ice cream.

All the traditional treats are served on the Afternoon Tea at Crewe Hall menu, and come beautifully presented. To start, there are delicate finger sandwiches with gourmet fillings like poached chicken with lime and coriander mayonnaise, and English salted cucumber with apple crème fraîche, moving on to home-baked plain and sultana scones served with Cornish clotted cream and red berry preserves.

A luxurious treat in historic surroundings, Crewe Hall is 8 minutes' drive from Crewe Rail Station.

Great staff; very good afternoon tea but a little expensive for the quality of food received; very nice location but not the best room as was confirmed in the booking; were we sat the carpet had crumbs deposited perhaps should have been cleaned up between customers; overall we had an enjoyable meal & visit.

The food was lovely, not too big of a portion which we like. I really enjoyed the vegetable parcels. The only down side to our dining experience sadly was that there seemed not to be any covid19 precautions in place regarding the staff, there was no temp checks at the door, no one wore face masks or face shields. On leaving the restaurant there was no one way system in place and customers were gathered around the bar area. We both felt vulnerable. This was the one place I thought we could celebrate our wedding anniversary in relative safety. I have read your health and safety policy regarding covid19 but it seems the staff are given the choice to wear their PPE. The only reason I would not recommend the restaurant is because of your decision to allow the staff not to wear their PPE.

Had afternoon tea with my daughter and mother in law who is 90. Impressive room however the chairs and sofa were very old and uncomfortable. There were crumbs on the seats . Other seats in the room had leather arms and at no time did I see these being wiped down after a previous diner. Service was slow and they had run out of peppermint tea. I had to remind them to bring my tea as it took ages . The sandwiches and cakes however were very nice but we were so disappointed with the scones as they were very flat and stale. No one came to ask if everything was ok. We did enjoy a look around the hall after which is well worth a visit. Lots of space between diners which we liked. Not sure we would go back though.

We didn’t enjoy the afternoon dinner as much as we thought. We ordered specific sandwiches which they got wrong, the bread was hard and stale.

Although the restaurant itself was very relaxed and did not feel uncomfortable due to the restrictions sadly that’s where the good review ends. We were waiting an extremely long time for a drink. The steak was dry and the sauce congealed and had a completely different menu to the one advertised. There was no children’s menu available and no cream for a coffee at the end of the meal. For a venue as classy as Crewe Hall I was not impressed and will not return.

Went with two friends for afternoon tea for a birthday treat. Staff were very attentive at the beginning but as the afternoon got late, there was obviously a staff change. Whilst I appreciate the afternoon tea session was over, as its a hotel tea and coffee can still be served to paying guests beyond the session? At 5:15pm we were told at first no and that service of tea/coffee stopped at 5pm although we had asked at 4:55pm but got no joy. On insisting that as a hotel surely this couldn't be the case and that we had originally asked at 4:55 the waitress said she would try. She did apologise on her return and say it was only the bar that was closed at 5pm, however in these trying times I would have thought any small income would be appreciated. IT didnt totally spoil the afternoon but it will stick in minds and as we are local would have been happy to come again. BTW - food was average, sandwich bread a bit stale, scones weren't the nicest, cakes were ok and good choice and presentation was ok but a bit of salad garnish wouldn't hurt.

Very poor communication. What was a very simple dietary request was made into an embarrassing situation. I booked my daughter and her boyfriend in for afternoon tea yesterday at 1pm as a special celebration for her A level results. On the booking form I did ask that a couple of the sandwiches be substituted. I rang to confirm the booking and dietary changes as I had not received a acknowledgement email on Tuesday. The girl I spoke to was very helpful and confirmed the email and request had been received and as she was on duty today this request would be met. This however was not the case, the wrong sandwiches were brought out not once but twice making it an awkward situation for my daughter. Unfortunately the scones that were on the afternoon tea were extremely dry and therefore left on the plate. All in all a disappointing experience for my daughter on what should have been a treat.

Lovely afternoon tea. All freshly prepared, well presented, amazing surroundings and pleasant, helpful staff. Even a picnic box to take home what we couldn't eat!
