Opening out onto the sands of Cooden Beach, Brasserie On The Beach champions local produce and freshly-caught seafood to deliver a contemporary dining experience with coastal views.
The seasonal menu at Brasserie On The Beach changes every February, June and October. Succulent Sunday roasts are also not to be missed, with tender roast beef and vegetarian nut roast always available.
On warm days the Brasserie’s glass walls will fold back so you can breathe in the fresh sea air. For the colder days, sit in the warm and admire the view from the floor-to-ceiling windows. The bar is open for pre and post-dining drinks, with the Gin Palace serving 18 artisan gins and a range of specialist tonics.
Cooden Beach Train Station is just a minute’s walk from the restaurant, with Cooden Beach Golf Club a further 5-minute walk away. The Brasserie on the Beach is under a 10-minute drive from Bexhill-on-Sea and around 25 minutes from Eastbourne.

The food was average and the service was average. There are plenty of restaurants in Bexhill where the food and service is much better. However, I cannot think of any restaurants in Bexhill that are as expensive as the Cooden Beach Hotel Brasserie and neither can I think of anywhere locally with such minuscule starters. I think you would have to go to the Ivy in Covent Garden to find its nearest rival. My wife had a fish and prawn curry, which was just unmarinated fish and prawns with curry sauce poured over. I can do that, and I can't cook. When we came out of lockdown, I noticed that they had increased the prices on the menu. I remember thinking at the time that they were already fairly pricey but maybe they needed to increase under the circumstances. However, what I find less acceptable is that they have not reduced the prices to reflect the 5% VAT rate, so effectively, they have increased their prices again, through stealth, but this time by 15%! I have ticked the box that states that I would recommend to a friend because the setting is lovely and on a good day the food and service can be good, its just that very often it is not.

We had booked a table in the restaurant but as the outside area was very busy we waited a long time to be served. Starters and main courses were good, puddings were a bit underwhelming.

The service was amazing, the food was very good and they had a great system in place to keep everyone safe. It was our first visit and will not be our last...

Generally we love eating in the Brasserie, living within a mile of the hotel we feel the whole hotel is by far the best it’s ever been, so congratulations, you’ve done a fantastic job. Our experience on Saturday was not quite what we had hoped for, particularly the service was really slow and not for the first time. We realise that working with face masks makes the waiter’s job that much harder, but we have to work all day with masks, too, so we know what we’re talking about. I so hope, that despite all the current problems the hotel AND the restaurant will continue to flourish, it’s something that Bexhill can be proud of, but it would be nice if as a guest you had the impression that the staff are a) enjoying their work b) doing everything to ensure the guests’ experience is a positive one which encourages them to come back Let’s face it, we all have to go to work to earn a living, so here is the choice: be happy at work and go through your day with a smile or be miserable and the day drags on and your customers won’t like you and may ultimately decide not to come back. For the record there are members of your staff who do try hard, e. g. the assistant manageress of the restaurant was particularly pleasant, we also had a very positive experience at a wake when Sam looked after us exceptionally well. It’s so hard to please everyone all the time, but to survive in these challenging times we have to stand out against the competition and service is the lifeblood of hospitality, without it people won’t come back for more. This is genuinely meant as a helpful suggestion rather than a moan, without this kind of feedback it’s difficult to gauge the level of customer satisfaction. Hoping to see you again soon, with kind regards Rolf Beck

Imaginative menu, expertly prepared and served. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly. Covid-19 precautions were comprehensive: we felt safe. All in all an excellent meal in relaxed surroundings. It’s clearly a popular restaurant and deservedly so. If you are looking to venture out after lockdown, this is an excellent place to visit.

I was pleased you had opened again. A lovely place to eat or just have coffee. Been there several times and always take my friends there.

Booked for the Sunday lunch with some friends: fantastic location on the beach; food was delicious, really good value for money, and the service was friendly with just the right amount of attentiveness. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and will definitely be returning.

Beautiful meal, great atmosphere and staff were very friendly. Our first meal out after lock down and we felt very safe with all the measures the restaurant have put in place. Can't wait to go back.
