Présentation du restaurant
Inspired by the British-Indian ‘gymkhana' clubs where members socialise, dine, drink and play sports, this iconic establishment offers diners sumptuous modern Indian dishes. Michelin-starred Gymkhana was described by The Times’ restaurant critic Giles Coren as ‘the best restaurant I have ever been to.’
With a strong focus on the tandoori oven and chatpatta sharing dishes, contemporary Indian cuisine, prepared with seasonal, local produce is served in a convivial environment. Menu highlights include the likes of Tandoori masala lamb chops, and wild mintjac biryani with pomegranate and mint raita.
Specialising in classic Indian punches and club-style cocktails, sip on authentically spiced drinks along with the finest Indian spirits that offer unique Indian twists on classic flavours. Split over 2 levels, downstairs at Gymkhana are 2 private dining rooms and a bar, with each area offering its own distinctive look and feel.
The sleek restaurant's décor is inspired by regions throughout India, with its jade greens, dark timber and printed fabrics used upstairs, and north Indian-inspired architecture, family heirloom barometers and hunting trophies on the floor below. Gymkhana in Mayfair is a 3-minute walk from Green Park Tube Station.

The food here was amazing! From the unusual popadoms to the Kid goat keema. The keema is best served with brains (which sounds very weird), however, it brings out the flavours in the dish more. I would recommend the Duck and asparagus starter and the soft shell crab as they were amazing too!

We tried some fantastic dishes on the Gymkhana menu including the tandoori fish and the duck dosa, all full of flavour with freshly ground spices. Drinks were also good with a great range of gin & tonics and cocktails. We had the lime and coriander g&t which was so refreshing with the spicy food. Only point to improve on was the service timings - the food came out really quickly but the drinks were rather slow. The whole experience was deserving of the Michelin star, but the service could be brushed up.

I read about Gymkhana in a travel magazine and when my family and I were in London for vacation, we booked a table for lunch. Being from Appleton, Wisconsin in the United States, we knew little about Indian food but had to experience it being in the UK. We had the most fantastic lunch and even my kids, ages 12 and 13 were blown away by how delicious and flavorful all the dishes were. Our waiter answered our questions about the menu and made suggestions. Wow! Our lunch was amazing! It was one of the best meals we have ever had. The restaurant itself was beautiful and most of the patrons were Indian which made us feel like we had made a good choice. Absolutely a must if you are in London!

This was my second visit, following my first I promised myself to return soon. The feel of the restaurant is both stylish and comfortable. The service is excellent and the food is fantastic, just wish we had a bigger appetite on this visit, we might return for some unfinished business food wise!
