The Staith House menu brings its own gourmet take on British pub dishes, all made with local seasonal ingredients. Snack on light bites like spicy Scotch egg with parsley dip, before moving on to hearty mains such as rilled black pudding with lamb sweetbreads, spinach and creamy mash. As well as home-style fish and chips with mushy peas and tartare sauce, there are dedicated seafood tasting menus that showcase the finest fresh catches from the local quay.

Sunday lunches at Staith House in Tyne & Wear offer up a choice of succulent slow-cooked meats and fresh fish, with trimmings including fresh veggies, spring onion fritters and crème fraîche crushed potatoes. Finish things off with something from the indulgent dessert menu, such as caramel chocolate mousse, or lemon posset with poached Yorkshire rhubarb.

A charming coastal pub with a relaxed ambience, Staith House is a 4-minute drive from North Shields Metro Station.

We had a lovely meal. My husband said that the fish and chips were the best he has ever eaten with crispy batter and soft, silky tender fish inside. He also said the oysters were the best he had ever eaten too (and he has had them in New Zealand and Tasmania’s Bruny Island). Wonderful food, lovely service. We will return.

The best Sunday lunch around. Never feels to leave a smile on my face or impress visiting friends. Totally amazing and worth every penny.

This was our first visit and it certainly will not be my last. The service from the minute we entered to when we left was professional and friendly. Deciding on just the mains and a dessert, the lunch was perfectly cooked and selection of veg was perfect. Highly recommend

The service was fine. However, despite the fact that the booking was made several days before, we were allocated a table the view from the table was simply the service hatch, the till and two tables adjacent to us. The rest of the restaurant was obscured and thus there was little ambience to be enjoyed. The menu was disappointing in that there were no solid steak dishes on offer. The only steak dish was 'Braised beef in red wine sauce with dumplings' which turned out to be mince and dumplings. The snack described as 'Crispy corned beef and pickled onions (plural) was a small (I suppose snack sized) portion of the corned beef and ONE pickled onion cut in half. Having stated these disappointments I would add that the food, such as it was, was enjoyable but not memorable.
