Présentation du restaurant
Dating back to the 17th century, The Punch Bowl York is an atmospheric, historic pub. Today, its dark wood interior and cask ale selection draws people in from all over the city.
Since Nicholson’s pubs were first established in 1873, these traditional British inns have become synonymous with warm hospitality, hearty pub food and a speciality range of ales. As well as always featuring British pub classics like beer-battered fish & chips and gammon & eggs, the Punch Bowl menu is complemented by a rotating selection of pie, sausage & chop and fish specials for each season.
The Punch Bowl bar is always stocked with exquisite gins, warming whiskies and fine wines to pair with favourite meals, and there’s always a superb range of seasonal and regional real ales on offer. A constant at the bar is the St Austell-brewed Nicholson’s Pale Ale, made with Cornish Maris Otter malts, and a hand-picked blend of English hops.
Showcasing famous British pub tradition, The Punch Bowl is a comfy hideaway, and sits 10 minutes' walk from York Rail Station.

Historic setting. We didn't have a starter. I had the ham hock main course. My wife had the fish and chips. Bit concerned the meal came in circa 7 mins. Suggest meals had not been cooked from fresh. Having said that both meals were fine.

We had booked a table for 19.00, we arrived early but they were more than happy to accommodate us. We ordered our drinks, my husband ordered a real ale while my daughter and I had pepsi's. There were three of us, two had steaks the third had fish and chips. One steak was well done (perfectly cooked, the other medium rare, it was more rare than medium rare. Overall the food was ok. The pub was starting to get quite noisy just before we left.
